MACY

You know that feeling of wanting to just curl up in a ball and be dead? It's the one where the sick feeling won't leave for days and to where food looks disgusting. Yeah. That one.

I had it.

And it was horrible.

The monster I despise most makes me feel this way. The one who murdered my best friend and has made my life a living hell. And yet he thinks he can just kiss me. Nothing seemed to make sense after that. It seemed as my fear was slowly slipping away and being replaced with anger and disgust. So many mixed feelings were jumbling up inside me. His lips were so rough and dry. The feeling of his sliced smile against my lips was disgusting.

I peeked outside the infirmary to see different looking creatures pacing the hallways. I had no clue where to go. I'd get lost if I tried going anywhere. I let out a huff of annoyance and went back in the room. After a few minutes, a boy in a blue mask entered the room.

"Follow me," was all he said. Without questioning him I followed. He lead me down a long hallway, up a few stairs, and around a couple couple corners to a door identical to all the others.

"This is your room. Feel free to get changed if you want. There are clothes in there." Without another glance, he left me in front of the closed door. I opened it quickly and shut it with my back right against it. I could feel tears threatening to come out. I just wanted to go home. To see Dezy.

I wanted my normal life back. I didn't want to hurt or kill anyone. I grew nervous. I began picking at my fingernails and pacing the room. While I paced around the room, I noticed there was a small bookshelf. There was one book that caught my eyes. I pulled it out and examined it. It was a decent sized, red book with gold letters that read, "The Monster of The Hissatsu Woods". Seeing that it could help calm me down, I opened it up to the first page and began to read.

The Monster of the Hissatsu woods was a tale told to generations to make sure the villiage's children didn't venture and get lost in the neighboring Hissatsu woods. What the children didn't know was that the Monster of the Hissatsu woods wasn't going to harm anyone. For the tale villagers had made was not true. It was true indeed that there was something lurking in the woods, but not something that would harm another creature.

The villagers had told of a monster with the ears and tail of a cat and the body of a male human. They had told their children that if you ventured to far into the Hissatsu woods, he'd eat you. Not leaving anything of you behind. This of course scared the children and the children stay inside of the village's walls. This tale had spiked the interest of one village girl, Aki. She had decided she'd venture into the Hissatsu woods and find this supposedly scary "monster".

One night she gathered her bundle of paper with her wooden pencil and ran in the direction of the Hissatsu woods where the "monster" lived. Aki knew her parents would disapprove but she paid no mind to it. Aki couldn't see very well so every time she would see something pass her, she would think it was the "monster". Aki slowed down and started walking so she could catch her breath. She felt a breeze go up her spine and felt like someone was watching her. She slowly turned around and saw a man with beauty beyond compare.

" Utsukushī..." she whispered. The man only cocked his head to the side and said, "Utsukushī? Are you blind? I'm hideous. A monster." Aki only shook her head and walked closer to the man slowly, afraid she'd scare him away.

"Nandeshou?" he asked staring at her as she walked closer. She was close enough to touch his ears and in doing so she lifted her hand up to his ears and started to feel them. "They're soft..." she mumbled, also ignoring the question. The man looked at her puzzled.

"Aren't you scared?" Aki shook her head no and pulled out her bundle of paper and her pencil. She then started to draw a detailed picture. "Nandeshou?" he repeated.

"Nothing," she replied. After a while she finished and showed the man her finished work. He smiled and gave her a pat on the head. Aki only smiled. The man looked at her and asked, "What's your name?"

"Aki meaning bright." she replied. "What's yours?" The man smiled and said, "Kiyoshi meaning pure."

"Your name matches you very well."Aki said. Kiyoshi sat on the grass and Aki joined him.

"Why aren't you scare of me?" Kiyoshi questioned. Aki only shrugged and laughed. Kiyoshi shook his head chuckling. "You're a strange girl."

"You're a strange boy." Kiyoshi gave her another pat on the head and said, "Very true."
