My name is Lindsey, and I am currently sitting in a hospital bed covered in wounds. Again. All because some huge jerks were picking on a girl. Ugh, I hate people like them. They're one of the few reasons I start fights. I can't just sit back and watch as some poor, innocent girl is beaten to death!

So, again, I'm stuck in the hospital. Believe it or not, I actually have my own personal nurse, seeing how I show up here at least twice a week. Today, however, makes three.

"Lindsey, how many times must I tell you to stop this fighting business! All you have to do is call that number I gave you for Central Command! They'll deal with the issue and you won't get hurt! It's that simple! You never listen!" A tall, thin woman with fiery red hair and a face covered in freckles screeched. Her emerald eyes sent daggers at my blue ones. She appeared to be in her late thirties, but she's as spirited as a child.

This is Sherie, the nurse I mentioned before. For as long as I can remember, she's the one who has looked out for me ever since I was little. She's like a mom to me.

"I do to listen, Sher. Just not all the time." I shrugged, which sent red-hot pain up my left arm and shoulder. I winced and grabbed the bandages that spiraled their way from my wrist to my neck. Sherie rushed over to make sure I didn't re-open any wounds and gave me another glare.

"Well you should have listened this time! Who knows what would have happened to you if that boy didn't show up!" Sherie said as she jotted down something on the clipboard she held in her hands, "You owe him a proper thank you when he returns."

"Which I doubt he will... We don't even know each other..." I could feel my cheeks getting warm at the thought of the man who saved me.

"Of course he will! He said he would!"

"Sher, please stop shouting, I already have a migraine..."

"Oh, let me go get you something for that. While I'm gone, think of something nice to say to him, okay? Be right back!" Sherie darted from the room while her words made my cheeks burn.

"What am I supposed to even say?"

The man who saved me is like a hero out right of a book. He swooped in and rescued me from those thugs. I still can't believe how strong he was! He tossed them aside like they weighed nothing at all! The events that took place in that alley were unbelievable. I wouldn't even believe it, and I was there.

With a soft sigh, I slowly laid back down and rested my head on the soft pillow. I felt the memory creep its way into my mind and closed my eyes. My wounds ached at how raw the memory was, yet I let it replay everything that had happened last night.

And how meeting this man would change my life forever....

(A/N: Sorry, I know this is really rough right now, but please, just bare with me. We'll get through this together! ^^;)
