mac: oh my god
everything is just how she remembered it. the faded flower print wallpaper, the stained glass kitchen window, the brick chimney, the glass gazebo styled dining room. as she makes her way around the 2 story cottage that her great grandfather built her for her great grandmother, she remembers the recorded story of how her grandparents met on the farm, that had been left for her to hear when she needed some hope in her life.
~
grandma april: it was a bright sunny day, august 22nd 1965. i was riding my bike around the area to drop off a bouquet to your grandfather's mom. when i got there grandpa was with his dad fixing the truck.
when he saw me his eyes lit up like he had seen me before. i knew we had never met, i always remember a persons face. and yet as i stood there wait for him to grab the flowers in my hand, i felt at home being in his gaze. after a small conversation i had to go home but i couldn't focus. all i could remember was how i missed his voice. sadly, even so there would be nothing between us. in those times a relationship like that was frowned upon. not only was he a White man, he was also wealthy. he lived on a farm that had good profit. i on the other hand, a half Black half Colombian woman who lived in poverty at the time could not be seen with him as a couple. but he didn't care. as i was riding my bike home i could heat the sputtering of a truck behind me and when i turned my head, there he was.

when Macaría snapped back to reality she finally noticed that she had been looking out of the red and blue stained window to see two white butterflies flying around the pond. she smiled and carried on walking around her grandparents old house.
she walked up the stairs and looked at all the pictures still left on the walls. when she got to the top of the stairs she smiled at the man who brought her here. adem was waiting at the top of the stairs with flowers in his hand. he gave her such a smile so pure and kind hearted that she went and hugged him
mac: thank you for bringing me here
she said fighting back tears
adem: it's my pleasure.
he said so calmly and he was hugging her back with one had so not to crush the flowers
adem: mac, can i tell you something?
mac: yes, what is it?
adem: this month taking you out on dates and seeing your reactions to the places i bring you have been so cool. i've never had such a quick connection with anyone this way before. when we met it was so easy to talk to you. it was like if known you for years and you had come back to me. it's like i'd known you in another life.
macaría sighs and he puts the flowers down on a hall table covered by plastic. he takes her face in his hands and continues...
adem: no one has ever been so accepting of what i've been through but my family and closest friends.
the rain starts pattering on the room and window sills of the old cottage
adem: i thought it was wrong of me to let you in so quickly. i didn't want to overwhelm you with my problems. but now i see it was a good thing that i let you in because, i got to see how much of a wonderful person you are under that mask of emptiness. if i'm being honest, i'm falling for you Macaría Knolls. i need to know, are you falling for me too ?
Macaría beings to cry again and Adem wipes tears off her cheeks
mac: of course im falling for you, adem. i started falling at the party when you showed how much i could trust you. and if i'm being honest i thought it was wrong of me to let you in so quickly as well.
adem: well then, since we are on the same page about our feelings i think into finally time i brought up this question.
macaría's heart does a back flip and she lets out a shaky breath
adem: macaría knolls, will you be my girlfriend?
macaría tears up a little more
mac: yes, of course !
adem pulls macaría into a big embrace and nuzzles his face in her hair. in that moment she realized what it was she felt and why she felt it. she knew what her grandmother meant in that recording. she looked up at him and he pulled her into a searing kiss. his tongue darts into her mouth and puts his hands on her hips.
Macaría could feel him smiling against the kisses and she pulled back and pressed her forehead against his. she wrapped her arms around the back of his neck. he pulled her in for another kiss. but this time it wasn't hot, it was just passionate. Adem pushed her against the wall and had her lifted up so her lips where in better reach.
adem proceeded to move his mouth down to her neck which caused her to let out a whimper. sober and well aware of his actions and the consequences that came with them, he pulled away.
mac: what happened? why'd you stop ?
adem: i'm sorry i just didn't want to push my boundaries
mac: you're not pushing my boundaries. if it's to much for you just tell me okay ?
adem: heh yeah same goes to you
