It's been a nearly week since Kagami was sent to the hospital and she's already sick of this solitude. Her condition is getting worse but she continues to swallow her petals and stubbornly refuse surgically removing her ability to love.

This Hanahaki disease is killing her but the thought of losing her feelings of romance felt worse than a death sentence. To lose that colorful and warm world she discovered not too long ago would force her to return to her old world where it was monochrome and cold; nothing exciting to note or to look forward to with a smile.

Sure, love is painful but it can't be worse than that disgustingly empty world she grew up in.

"I'd rather die."

Kagami mumbled under her breath as she sat at her hospital bed, feeling the soft petals that littered around her, giving her a somewhat bittersweet comfort. Her throat felt dry and itchy, almost begging for her to let out a strong cough or two.

No.
She can't cough.
If she does, she'll have to stay here even longer. Kagami didn't want the nurses to think that her condition is that serious so she's doing her best to resist coughing out any more flowers. Pulling her knees towards her chest, she could feel the flowers build up in her lungs

It's so painful.

Kagami gripped her sheets, cursing the tickle in her throat that mocked her entire being. Oh, how she longed for sunlight, for some fresh air, for freedom. At times like this, Adrien's shining blonde hair that reminded her of the sun often came to mind, Marinette's cheerful aura often made her forget about the responsibilities that Kagami had no choice but the bare.

Ahhhh, how she misses them.
Oh how she misses her friends.

Later that day, a nurse came to check on Kagami's condition as per usual. Greeting, giving Kagami her medicine, examining her health; This became a normal routine for the both of them. Upon arriving, the nurse noticed how there was a lot less flower petals on the ground than she expected there to be, this thought filled her with a bit of relief.

"Looks like you're getting better Kagami." The nurse smiled as she handed Kagami some medicine for her to take along with a glass of water. "That's good to hear." Kagami stated rather blankly as she swallowed her pill and drank her water, desperately resisting her strong urge to cough as loud as she possibly could.

"Does this mean I can leave my room?" Kagami politely asked, placing her empty cup on the side table next to her. "If your body isn't gonna collapse again, you can. Although, I'd give it another week or two just to be sure." The nurse said before picking up the glass and smiling. "I'll see you again later, Kagami." Kagami nodded in response before the nurse exited the room.

'Finally'.
Kagami then muffled her face with the back of her blanket before coughing out as much flowers until her throat felt satisfied. Each haze she let out felt so painful yet so pleasing as more and more petals escaped her mouth, scratching her throat as they did. A minute or two passed before she was able to stop coughing. She felt painful tears in her eyes and saliva going down her chin from coughing so much. Actually, this fit was a lot less painful than before thanks to the medicine that she takes ever so often, but the best it could do was numb the pain out to some extent. If it were like usual, she'd be coughing out blood again.

After wiping her face, Kagami covered the evidence with her blanket and got off her hospital bed. The cold wooden floor was almost too much to bare so she was glad that she had her house slippers just beside her bed. She took a glance towards the mirror to check if she was presentable enough to leave the room. Her hair wasn't that much of a mess and I'm sure pajamas aren't too informal.
