Lisa was currently seated on the living room floor. Legs crossed while putting together the remaining boxes she had, all whilst taking sips from her cooling water. Melbourne was approaching summer, and she got a real good feel for that when she was out buying the cardboard confinement's today.
Now that they were into October, it could technically be considered mid spring. And sure the smells were pleasant, numerous blossoming flowers incredible to view, but the impending heat was something she wasn't looking forward to.
Lalisa finished up with the last box when her phone began ringing. She looked to where it had been thrown on the couch and smiled at her cousin's name being displayed via an incoming FaceTime. She lifted the phone and focused it on her as she answered it. A soft smile appearing on her face as her favorite cousin greeted her warmly in Thai.
"Hey Lali."
"Hey." She replied while lifting the box up from in front of her. Placing it on the collection of others and extending her legs out from beneath her. Feeling the numbness leave her feet as she did.
"What are you up to?" Her cousin questioned after seeing the movement.
"Just finished putting together some boxes." Lisa sighed. "You?"
"Oh, just chilling by the pool." The near black haired woman flipped the camera around and showed her legs that were being dipped into the cool, blue water. The green landscape of the rainforest being shown in the background of her feed. That rainforest being the one that surrounded their family neighborhood back home.
"Mm." Lisa hummed. "That sounds nice."
"It is." Her cousin flipped the camera back around and grinned. "Is Melbourne hot yet?"
"It's getting there. Still spring so some days are warm, where others are a watery mess."
"Which do you prefer?"
"The watery mess." She chuckled lightly. "Gives me an excuse to stay inside. And not feel bad about it."
Her cousin nodded in agreement, before slightly eyeing her through the phone. Lisa watching as the woman gave into thought from the other side of the screen.
"Do you think you'll stay there the whole month?" Her cousin posed. "Or, will you possibly come home early?"
Lisa took in a breath and looked around the apartment. All the books, nicknacks, and mementos piling up as she observed. Her head beginning to hurt at the sight of it all. "Probably the month." She replied. Looking back down to the girl on her screen. "I mean, it's hard to say how much time it'll take me. Seeing how I only arrived here late last night."
"I know... but the longer you're away, the more of a threat your Mother becomes."
Lisa laughed as she tilted her head back. Feeling the ends of her ponytail brush her back as she breathed out. "All the more reason to stay the whole month." She reasoned while lifting her head back up. "Not the you getting bothered by her part. But the me, getting a chance to be away from her one."
