part two : chapter six
calum toppled over the sofa, attempting to tackle ashton. “no!” he screeched. “ashton, no!”
“calum, you’re never going to get a girlfriend if you can’t ask her out!”
“what if i don’t want a girlfriend?”
ashton stopped. “you don’t? i thought you liked her.”
calum let go of his grip on ashton and sat down on the arm of the couch. “i do. she’s pretty and nice and i could probably get free curry, but i’m too scared. i’m not a good boyfriend, we learned that with lana. i don’t want to fuck it up with alex.”
ashton sat next to calum. “i know that your relationship with lana was not the best, but that was years ago. it’s not going to affect it with alex, i promise.”
“you don’t know that.”
“you’re right, i don’t.” ashton straightened up. “but as the oldest person in this house, i know that relationships sometimes don’t work out, and that sucks ass. but when they do work, it’s one of the most amazing things ever. what do you have to lose? even if she says no, you’ll still have the experience of asking someone out. and if she says yes, then you’re set. you’re already in the game.”
calum sat still for a few moments, processing all that ashton had said to him. “yeah, i guess you’re right.”
“i know i am.”
calum glared at ashton, but it quickly fell from his face. “wait, i’ve already ruined my chance with her.”
“no you haven’t,” ashton assured him. “you just need to find a creative way to ask her out.”
“like what?”
“i don’t know. you have to figure that out yourself.”
“fuck you.”
