Food. Food is the only thing on my mind. If I don't get something suitable to eat in the next 2 minutes I might jump out of the window. Not even the bars would stop me at this point.

Ugh. What is it with hospitals and their lack of edible meals?! At least they still have vending machines...

I'm walking fast, but stay cautious to keep silent. The vending machine is close. Late afternoon Takis are the best. Especially compared to the awful hospital food.

I turn left and bump into someone. I stumble for a moment and look up. Hottie's handsome face looks down at me and we both register what just happened.

Ugh. I was trying so hard to avoid him. His appearance prevents me from thinking straight. It's just so distracting... I am not usually like this, but oh man...

I have to focus...

But then again... looking won't hurt.

I look up at him to find him staring.

I look away awkwardly. I need to keep my priorities straight. I can't get distracted. Especially not by hot guys.

"Hey, Rose!" He says grinning.

Who's Rose?

"What?- Uh... Yeah! Hey!" I say, feeling awkward about forgetting my fake name.

"How are you? Sick of the hospital food yet?"

"I've passed sick a long time ago." I say, jokingly, but dead serious.

"Same! The first week I got here I threw up at least twice! But I learned to survive by eating the crackers from the vending machine."

I look down at the bag of crackers in his hand.

Ugh, those are so BLAND. And he got the unsalted ones... Ew.

"Haha! I've been eating the Takis mostly." I say, making my voice slightly higher pitched, to embrace Rose's full potential as a character.

Ugh... why did I make her so annoying?

"Oh, I can't handle spicy food." He said, looking intimidated.

Of course he can't...

Saif used to make fun of people that can't all the time. We would laugh so much... I wish we could still make jokes and laughs together. But he's gone now...

Tears fill my eyes before I can stop them.

"Woah, are you ok? I didn't mean to make you emotional from my lack of ability to eat spicy food..." he says concerned but still cracking a joke as dull as his crackers.

"Yeah. I'm fi-" I start to say, but am cut off once again.

"Jake? What are you doing?" A male doctor says as he comes closer.

"Oh, I have to go. See you later, Rose." He says winking as he walks away.

I am ashamed to say that his wink melted my heart.

"Bye..." I say softly.

What am I doing here again?

Right. Takis!

I continue walking.

I turn right and there it is. The big bright vending machine. A soft light shines through the window and gives the machine an angelic appearance. Heaven here I come.

When I am standing in front of the machine I look around to make sure no one is in sight. I kick the prison keeping my precious Takis trapped.

PLOP. PLOP. PLOP.
