"Mama, Is Baba back home?" Maisha asked in a whisper while bobbing her head from across the kitchen door.
"Yes baby. Make sure you don't make any noise with that flute of yours. Baba must be Jet-lagged. Go to your room, Mama's coming in two minutes to play with you." Mehrul softly instructed her as she chopped the vegetables for lunch.
"okay" Her shoulders slumped and lips grew into a pout, with an exaggerated 'okay' she walked away while deeply resisting the urge to blow the flute and show her Mama the improvement she'd achieved with all the past three days of practice.
It had been a month since Murtaza went on a business trip to Mexico and came back this morning. However nothing changed. Their hearts still carry those bare emotions: Hatred, Hopefulness and Yearning.
Mehrul's prayers never stopped. Although she's been persistently tested by her Almighty for almost five years but despite her lingering longing, Mehrul's faith remained the same-Strong and Unbreakable.

It was finally the big day. Maisha had always dreamt of going to school in the yellow bus that drove past their house. The pink school bag she bought the other day never left her side, not even in her sleep. Unlike the other kids, who'd throw a tantrum on their first day of school, Maisha was surprisingly thrilled for the big day.
The awed expression on Mehrul's face was unceasing as she watched her daughter-all excited and gleeful. But it didn't last long as that particular thought crossed her mind yet again. She was terrified to say the least. She wasn't sure how maisha's going to react after seeing kids with normal parents who'd come to drop them off and return together in the afternoon to pick them up. She wasn't ready to face the dejection her child would feel. However deep down mehrul knew maisha was wise unlike the other kids of her age. She'll be alright after a couple of days, she thought weakly.
Maisha was finally ready for her first day of school, wearing the cute little school uniform, she looked adorable and those little piggy tails were so perfectly done and that just added on to her cuteness. Beeji and the rest of the house help delightfully gather at the front porch to bless her for the day and send her off. Every one adored Maisha. Except him.
"Ready? Shall we go now?" Mehrul asked, holding out her hand for her.
Maisha paused for a moment and said "Mama, ek minute mai abhi aai" she ran up the stairs with those little feet of hers.
(Mama, just a minute,I'll be back)Upon reaching Murtaza's room she found him sleeping soundly. She quietly went up to him and carefully climbed the bed so as to not wake him up. Placing her hand on his head she leaned down and placed a kiss on his forehead.
"Baba mai school jarahi hoon, AllahHafiz'' she whispered and quickly got down and ran out of the room before he'd woke up.
(Dad I'm going to school, AllahHafiz)Mehrul knew where she'd gone so she didn't bother to follow and stood at the doorway waiting for her.
"Chalein Mama" Maisha sprinted down the staircase and held mehrul and practically dragged her out in sheer excitement.
(Let's go mama)
