Those who don't know how to suffer are the worst off. There are times when the only correct thing we can do is to bear out troubles until a better day

The little girl hiccupped as tears rolled down her cheeks and the disgust that ran through her gaze for the lady standing in front of her was something very unusual to expect from a four year old.

"Aap ne phirse mama aur baba ka jhagda karwaya na? aap bohot buri ho chale jao yaha se" Maisha with her tiny palms, tried to push Lucy away.
(You made them fight again. You are very bad, go away from here)

"what the..." Lucy steadied herself from the unexpected push and glared at Maisha.

"Go away!!!" Maisha yelled in between her sobs and tried pushing her away in failed attempts.

"Back off! you little jinx" Lucy yelled back and pushed her away harshly. Mehrul who witnessed the whole fiasco, instantly spring to her feet to reach her daughter but in the next moment a loud shriek resonated throughout the mansion almost taking her soul away.

Mehrul freezed in her spot, blood drained from her face and soul numbed. The harsh push from Lucy caused Maisha to trip off the railing that was followed by a loud scream of agony from a helpless mother.

The little Maisha fell off the railing into his father's arms.

He saved his baby girl.

The moment Murtaza saw Maisha falling off the railing his breath hitched and fatherly instincts instantly kicked in. He felt his soul crumbling painfully and before she could hit the ground, he advanced forward and caught her in his arms. It all happened in a blink of an eye.

Murtaza was entranced. He held his little girl close to his heart, one hand on her head and the other holding her firmly to his chest. This was the first time in those four years he actually held his daughter, felt her warmth and surprisingly his soul felt at peace. He felt complete with her, the feeling he never thought he'd be able to live through.

His subconscious screamed peace. The emotional walls around him, built from the past trauma never let anyone into his heart let alone into his life. He thought he was safe within those walls but now it all felt bogus. The life within those walls never gave him this feeling of well-being. It was like he was living in a grave all this while but now he felt alive and well. Murtaza was content and at peace.

Tears weren't ceasing, neither Murtaza's nor Maisha's. He held her protectively against his chest and caressed her hair as if his life depends on her. Murtaza finally steeled his heart against the voices in his head and embraced his daughter as his eyes were misty with some unfathomable emotions, perhaps-Guilt and Regret.

Suddenly, he felt a harsh pull and maisha was snatched away. He found a horrified Mehrul examining maisha before embracing her in a tight hug. Murtaza looked at them in wonder. They were his people, his family. He disregarded them all these years and searched for the so-called peace all around the world when it was right at his home, it finally occurred to him that their existence was his life of ease.

"Maisha aap theek hona! Idhar dekhein Mama ki taraf." Mehrul cooed at her daughter, gently caressing her hair. Maisha was still terrified from the incident and wasn't speaking anything except staring blankly at her mother.
(Maisha! You okay baby? Look at me.)

"Maisha kuch bolo Beta. Mama se baat Karo please." Mehrul pecked her forehead and caressed her tear-streaked cheeks. Maisha glanced at her father and blinked her dewy-eyes. Murtaza instantly stepped forward but before he could reach her, Mehrul turned away and gave him an angry glare.
(Maisha say something, please talk to Mama)
