NEWT SCAMANDER WALKED DOWN the busy New York streets carrying his weather beaten briefcase. His eyes were full of hope as he gazed at the tall buildings and fast walking New Yorkers.
He barley noticed that he'd wandered into the middle of a crowd and bumped into a woman eating a hot dog.
"So sorry," he mumbled to her and kept walking.
There was a woman at the top of the steps shouting to the crowd about a shadow which was stalking the city and then disappearing. Newt found himself stopping to listen to her. Something she was saying sounded familiar to him.
As she was shouting that they were called the Second Salemers, Newt put his case down on the ground only to have it knocked over by a slightly round man who almost fell over it.
"S-so sorry," Newt stuttered awkwardly. "My case,"
The man rolled his eyes and mumbled "No harm done," and then he was on his way.
"You!" The woman on the steps pointed directly at Newt. "Friend. What drew you to our meeting today?"
Newt paused and stared at her. "Oh, I-I was just passing," he stammered.
"Are you a seeker? A seeker after truth?" she questioned.
"No, I'm really more of a chaser actually," Newt chuckled slightly at his own inside joke.
The woman continued to shout about her cause until she finally said that witches live among New Yorkers and that they should be protecting their children. Newt couldn't believe what he was hearing but very quickly forgot after his eye caught his Niffler stealing a beggar's hat full of silver coins.
Newt rushed up the stairs of the bank in hot pursuit of the little kleptomaniac. He made his way into the bank and straight over to the seat next to the man he'd almost knocked over.
"Hey, what are you here for?" The man asked.
"Uh, s-same as you are," Newt said absentmindedly. His eyes scanned the room for anything that vaguely resembled the Niffler.
"You're here to ask for a loan to set up a bakery?" The man asked in surprise.
"Yes," Newt replied, still looking for the Niffler.
"Hm, small world," the muggle said. "Well, may the best man win I guess," he stuck out his hand to shake but Newt had caught sight of his Niffler and rushed towards it.
Newt's attention was so fixed on the Niffler that he didn't notice how close he had become to the woman in front of him in the queue. She looked at him nervously and tried to step forward.
Newt watched as it got onto a trolley that was being pushed towards a lift. The Niffler defiantly made eye contact with him as the lift doors opened.
"Hey!"
Newt's head snapped around at the muggle he was speaking to on the bench.
"Mr English-guy, I think your egg is hatching,"
Newt sighed. This Niffler was becoming more trouble than it was worth.
He drew his wand, pulled the egg and the muggle attached towards him and then dissapparated to a staircase.
The muggle was utterly shocked. Newt held his wand between his teeth and watched the Occamy egg hatch. He smiled at the little blue snake-like creature appeared from beneath the cracks of the shells.
Newt made his way down the stairs and into the vault room where he undid the clasps of his case and placed the Occamy inside.
"Newt, the Niffler got out," Nyx exclaimed, appearing at the top of the case. "I'm sorry, he jumped right out my grip,"
