Candy Corn and Conspiracies

After having auditions today and going to the thrift store I was back home. And as usual this weekend my mom and her new family went to their grandparents house to escape me. Sitting alone in my bed I grabbed my phone to call my best friend Syd.

The phone rang and rang until he answered "Whats up dude?"

"My family is gone and I'm bored as hell, come over!"

"Okay cool! Ill be over in ten." Syd replied as we both said goodbye.

I quickly cleaned my room and got ready. Ten minutes later the doorbell rang and I ran down the stairs to greet him. Opening the door for him I saw a bag in his hands.

"Whatcha got in there?" I asked as we walked over to the living room and sat down on the couch.

"I was thinking of dying my hair green! Oh, and I've got you some candy corn!" Syd beamed as he sat down on the couch.

"Thank you so much Syd! I didn't know they had them yet." I told him while I grabbed the remote to change the channel.

"I dont know how you eat those" he made a gagging noise and pretended to puke "they're gnarly."

I laughed and opened the bag of Halloween candies "More for me!"

"All for you, those things taste like plastic."

I ignored his complaints about my favourite candy as we decided to watch Steven Universe. The episode ended and I asked "when do you want to dye your hair?"

Syd grabbed his phone to look at the time. "Umm we could do it now, can I stay the night?" He asked.

"Yeah sure! well, lets go get ready."

We both walked up the stairs to my washroom and got the colour ready. Syd was making faces in the mirror as I went to go change my dress to a big shirt and some shorts.

As I walked back into the washroom Syd looked bewildered, I froze in response.

"What? Is there a bug on me?!" I asked concerned.

Syd shook his head and laughed "Nah I just never usually see you wearing anything other than a dress."

If anyone else had said that to me I might've felt embarrassed or shy but I've known Syd for three years and he's never once judged me harshly, I can trust him with anything.

"Well I dont want any green hair dye on my dress" I chuckled slightly.

After getting the dye in his hair we let it sit while we conversed about the last few days at school, leaving out a few details, such as me vomiting in the washroom and me admiring Gauge at the thrift store.

"Ughh, I hate Vicky, at least she didn't give you a black eye though." Syd said lost in thought

"Yeah I guess, maybe people will take me more seriously now."

"It is weird how 'Gauge the great' still talked with you today at the thrift store, dont ya think?" He asked me.

"Oh, I never thought about that." I realized.

Syd looked around my pink room and picked up a little bear figurine. Then he froze and cast a thoughtful glance back at me. "Do you think Gauge might like you?"

I let out a choked gasp. "Uh, no dude, why the hell would he like me?" I laughed "plus he has a bitch witch girlfriend, and he's a total asshole." I concluded.

Syd set down the figurine and sat next to me poking me in the arm "Some guys are mean to people they like, its a way they flirt! Also he put his hands over your eyes!" Syd announced like he'd just solved a huge mystery.

"Dont even make me think about him liking me." I said standing up "I might hurl on you." I smiled.

"Do it pussy." Syd laughed

"Lets wash your hair out now." I said ignoring him, as I shuffled to the washroom.

"Oooh, quick to change the subject much?" Syd teased.

"Theres no way in hell id crush on him!"

Syd laughed loudly in response.

The rest of the weekend consisted of watching movies and playing old computer games until my mom and her family came back home.
