Naagdweep

The citizens of Naagdweep are no normal people . They are shifters -  snake shifters . The snake diety had thousands of years ago allowed the snake to live on those islands where they could live freely without human interventions. Though the snake shifters could change their appearance and live among humans but there are many who didn't wanted to live incognito. So island like Naagdweep is a paradise for the serpent people. But don't make the mistake of thinking that they are the only snakes . Many of these shifters live among humans and some of them posses extreme powers as well.

The island of Naagdweep is ruled by king Maniraj and Queen Manika. They  are married recently. The king and queen are in a peaceful slumber when the king wakes up disturbed by a dream. He wakes up his wife.

" What is it my dear? You seem disturbed? " His Queen asked.

"Yes the snake diety came into my dream and asked me to go to the beach immediately. He said I would find someone there . I have to take care of him as he is very important for the future . And then he vanished . He didn't say anything else"

"Then we should not delay it . Let's go"

The king's mind was full of questions but he nodded and headed out of his chamber with the queen in tow. As he was ordered when he reached there he found the body of a newborn child covered in blue color at the shore.

"Hey Dev kaljayi!! It looks like the child  was....." The queen couldn't complete her sentence . The sight before her disturbed her completely .

"Yes the child is poisoned " he said gravely.

" Can't we do something . "

"I guess that was the whole point of bringing us here. We will save him."

He assured his wife as well as himself . But deep down he had doubts . He had no hope that the child would survive. But sometimes faith is more important then logic . So he took  the child in his arms and took him to the Royal doctor of Naagdweep.

" He is such a handsome child my Lord. " the doctor said.

They were in the hospital . The child was kept in a special laboratory where he was undergoing a number of tests . The king has asked the queen Manika to retire to her chambers as he didn't think that she can bear the terrible news that the king had doubt he would get.

"That he is doctor . But will he.."  he stopped speaking mid sentence .

" I  don't know your highness. The child is alive that is definite . But he is in a comatose condition . It might take him days , months or years to wake up. Or it can also happen that he never wakes up. "

The king nodded " then do everything you can and keep him alive. "

" As you wish your highness", the doctor said as he turned to look at the machine in which the baby was kept ." It will be a miracle if he wakes up ."

The king looked at the doctor and his dear friend " Do miracle happen my friend? "

The doctor chuckled " That's the million dollar question isn't it."

It's been 25 long years since that fateful day when the king found the child . With time his body has shown progress . The blue colour with years of treatment has changed into a permanent light green colour . But it wasn't the most unique feature of the child . The most unique thing of this child was his blood.

" Are you sure my friend?" King Maniraaj asked the doctor.

"Yes your highness. As strange it is , it is the truth. "

The king smiled . It seems the child is more special then he thought.

" Tell me more about him ."

" Well he is no ordinary child . There is too much poison in his body and it is too powerful . I might not be wrong if it is the strongest poison in this world"

"Then how in the name of God is he alive."

" Because of the poison itself. The poison with time has given him strength instead of killing him. There is one more thing that I found. " the doctor said hesitantly.

" What is it ?" He asked thinking what new surprises the child contained for them.

" Umm ...well....There are millions of snakes inside his body. His blood along with blood cells contain these snakes and nourishes them too"

The king was surprised beyond expectation . It took him some time to digest it . " Does these snakes help him too?"

" That I don't know my Lord. This is one of the many questions that will be answered when he wakes up .....If he wakes up." he said the last line as an afterthought.

The king nodded knowing the complexity of the situation.

It's been more than a month since the king has visited the child . He has been busy,  very busy with his capital as well as the birth of his first child. King Maniraj is particularly agitated today. His wife is in labour for more than 3 days. Though he wasn't experiencing the pain, he was equally drained and helpless. When the lady doctor couldn't help his wife , he called his friend for help. He was considered the best by many. He has been inside for more than 5 hours but nothing has happened. Maniraj was on the verge of breaking when his friend came out . But before he could go to his friend or he could come to him a person came rushing there and grabbed the doctor's attention. The person was clearly a stranger for the king . He was getting angry with each passing second . The person would have received his death sentence but the doctor noticed the king's situation. He dismissed the person and walked upto his king grinning from ear to ear.
The king heaved a sigh of relief . The smile on his friends face could mean only one thing. But he still waited to hear the words.

" Congratulations your Highness, it's a huge day for Naagdweep."

" Are they alright . Manika and our child.."

"Yes " And before he could say another word the king hugged him and sobbed like a child. It's clear that he was very afraid for them.

"Hey Dev kaljayi thank-you for saving them." 

"It seems you have to thank him some more your highness."

The king looked at him with puzzled expression. The doctor just smiled .
" It seems your highness that miracles do happen."

It took a minute for the king to realise the meaning. " You mean to say that the child has woken up too. "

"Yes I just got the news myself . I have to go there . Your wife and your child , I mean your daughter is completely well so I would need your permission to get there."

But the king wasn't listening to any of these. He just have registered one world that he was repeating reverentially "My daughter.........My own blood ...My daughter.. I need to see her.."

And the king went to see his daughter as the doctor went to see the child .
Both of them had no idea that this was a sign that both the child have come to this world together though the time of their birth is years apart.
