I was in a mood to head back home from the cafe but my mind was still stuck in the memories of juvenile, I mean come on isn't it amazing how fast time goes? It seems like yesterday I was acting stubborn and being dramatic just to skip school and hit the playground and now it's been nearly 2 decades and all I have is a memory of a memory in hunches.

Do you remember the first time when you tasted Soda? I do.

My dad bought me when I was 8 years old, we both were out to grab some snacks and one of the bite was too spicy for me that it brought me into tears, I was jumping and acting crazy. My dad laughed at me struggling and said, “I couldn’t even sense the essence of the spice in this and look at you crying like a baby. Here, have this soda and this makes you feel better”.

I was angry that all grown up people get superpowers to eat everything and carry heavy weights and feel no pain. Then I looked at that Soda can and the bubbles were coming out of nowhere and popping on the top, I thought it was kind of a flavoured juice and took a large gulp.

“THAT’S IT!!! I was all BLACKED OUT and that GODDAMN liquid was about to take my life away”. Everyone around started to console me by saying “Calm down” & “one sip at a time”, not only did I ignore their nonsense but yelled back at them saying “SHUT UP AND DRINK THIS THING, ONLY THEN YOU WILL KNOW”.

I came out of that crazy nightmare in a few mins and that soda has become my favourite drink for lifetime.

Days were going smoothly yet, I was really really bad at academics and the constant beating and yelling from my mom was constant but one day I heard from my mom that we are moving out of town tomorrow. I thought it’s just a usual “Will send you to the hostel” prank. I didn’t believe them as there was no reason for me to believe. This is where I was born and there is no way that I’m going to leave the only friends I have, so I told myself that mom must be threatening me as I’m skipping school lately and she will be fine once I hit the rack.

I came out to play with my friends and I was not getting a chance to bat so I wanted to play my mom’s new prank against them and yelled “Fine!! You guys play all by yourself. Anyway, I’m going away from you, far away that you will even forget me one day and I will never come back”.

As I turned I heard my name in a loud voice and asked “Are you really leaving and never coming back?”

I replied, “Yes, my mom said we are moving out of town tomorrow”.

Then he came close to me, gave his bat and said in a low voice, “hold it, you do the batting today” and handed me the bat. As my prank worked out well, I was excited and took the bat.

We played till late evening and I knew that I am as good as dead, my mom’s gonna kill me for coming home at this hour.
