Gaby 's POV
Moses guided us to our seats. He then swiftly discuss with us how the program will run. After Dean Castro officially opens the program, the host will then introduced Dr, Ziliman as the first speaker followed by George and then of course me .
Each of us is given 30 minutes to deliver our piece. Written copies of our topics in full has already been distributed in advance to the students. Question will be entertained only after all the speakers have delivered their speech.
Nagsimula na ang programa. Dean Castro was called to open the symposium as well as to introduce Dr. Ziliman
Dr Ziliman has always been a very effective speaker. In fact he is considered one of the "terrors" in the Department of Philosophy.
" As he begins with his speech, he opens his topic by asking the primary question What is the Filipino philosophy? What are the dimensions of Filipino thoughts? What is the difference between a philosopher from a pilosopo? ......... "
Everyone in the audience remain quiet as they listen to Dr. Ziliman dissect the state of Philippine philosophy .After about 30 minutes he concluded his speech and was lead to the chair at the further right part of the stage.
The moderator then introduce George as the next speaker. She stood up and went up to the stage and started discussing the distinction between academic and popular level of the term philosophy using Heiddeger Hermeneutics.
" Linguistic analysis shows that the term Pilosopo is used to refer to either......"
As much as i wanted to look at the facial expressions of the audience , I can't ksi nasa unahan kmi nakaupo nla Moses. I can say the audience are pretty impressed. I can hear some students reacting and whispering as they take down notes. I guess some of their professors has asked them to submit a reaction paper after this symposium.
Pumaling sa akin si Moses to hand over me a bottle of water. he smiled and initated a small talk.
Gaby right? Moses again. tumango lang ako " Can we offer you anything while you wait for your turn? do you need anything else on our side? do you feel comfortable? kabado ka ba? " sunod sunod na tanong nya. Natawa ako ng mahina. Tingin ko sya ung kabado hindi naman ako e hahaha.
Natatawang sinagot ko sya " I'm all good thank you. Honestly hindi naman ako masyadong kinakabahan. Ito din kc ang thesis ko plus we have been doing this for quite sometime now. katapos nga lang naming mag bigay ng lecture sa Sab Carlos seminary last Wednesday." sabi ko
Nagbiro ako sa kanya. " alam mo tingin ko ikaw ang kinakabahan e tama ba? sabay tawa ko ng mahina. "Namumutla ka na kasi . ok ka lang ba? I said
Napailing na lang sya at natawa. "Medyo lang halata ba? pasensya na ha last activity kc ito ng org namin with me as the president kaya medyo mataas ang expectation sa akin ng lower years at nla dean.
"Dont be pressured. You are here not to please anyone but yourself. At the end of the day what matters is you did your best" wika ko.
He was about to say something when i heard George closing her speech .
" For our third and final topic for this evening we would like to call on Ms. Gaby Cullen to discuss her thesis topic regarding the implied distinction between a Filipono indigeneous philosophy based on filipino attitudes and beliefs. lets give her a warm of applause. "
