Chapter Five

Hermiones Pov

A knock on the door draws my attention from the book I was reading. It's now evening and this day has probably been the longest and most complicated day for a while. Mother gave more than a few things to think about.

'Come in.' I say. I know it isn't Mother because this person has actually waited for my response. I smile internally and put down 50 Ways To Understand A Person. Blaise my twin brother enters to room. He smiles hesitantly and I can see he is unsure of his boundaries as I haven't been to most accepting of the fact he is my brother.

'Come sit down.' I say patting the bed and I shuffle over to the left so Blaise would have room to sit. He smiles at me and sits down.

'So...Mother took you shopping?' He asks motioning to all the bags that Father had brought up to the room about an hour ago. I still haven't bothered to unpack. I have so much new stuff. I wonder if I could ask Frankie to do it?

'Yes, it was tiresome. Enjoyable though.' I say and place the book on the nightstand. Blaise sees the title and smirks slightly. He clears his throat and turns away. He clearly has something to say.

'Mother mentioned you were considering a transfer to Slytherin.' He says. Ah, I see. I wonder what he thinks.

'What do you think?' I ask. Mother had made a good case on why I should transfer. From not having to hide my new identity anymore to making me question whether or not life in Gryffindor would become unbearable once people find out I am a Zabini. I really hope the latter doesn't happen.

'I would love to have my twin sister with me.' He says after a minute and I let a smile spread across my face. 'You would have allies, Slytherin would respect regardless of if they knew you before. Its not who you were, it is who you are now. Also if anyone tries anything on you...-

I laugh and cut Blaise off. 'I am sure it will be all fine.'

I didn't even know how wrong I would be.

'Two seconds.' I say and leave Blaise in my room. 'I need to do something.' I step outside my room and take a deep breath.

New me means new start right? That should mean other people should get a second chance too.

If Blaise sleeps two doors down that I guess Draco is next door?

'Draco?' I call out hesitantly knocking on the door gently. I wait for a few seconds then I begin to feel dumb, of course he doesn't sleep next door to-

The door opens revealing a dishevelled Draco. Oh dear Godric if Harry and Ron could see me now, I would be so dead.

The tired and lazy look in his eyes disappears the moment he notices me.

'Oh...Hermione...' He spoke softly and rubs the back of his head awkwardly. I clear my throat.

'Can I come down in?' I ask in the same tone and Draco just looks at me. He snaps out of whatever thought he was in as he opens the door to let me in. I nod at him and walk inside.

The room has two black walls and two silver walls with black trees painted on them. The colour scheme on everything else was green. Draco had the same items of furniture as me and the room looked pretty much the same except the fact it looked homely and lived in. Judging by the clothes thrown across the floor in various directions. Wow, this really is a home away from home.

Draco closes the door behind me and looks at me sheepishly. 'Hermione, I am so sorry for everything

I did to you, it wasn't right and I-'
