KEEFE'S POV
Sophie planted herself at Fintan's righthand, her face was a masterpiece of deception, with no empaths among the Neverseen ranks she allowed Keefe to feel the panic radiating off of her instead of masking it to keep up appearances. As everyone regained their seat Fintan plastered a smile on his face at places his hand on Sophie's shoulder, Keefe bristled at the sight of it and the green energy swirled around his hand beneath the table once more however a minuscule sliver of red inflicting energy quickly met his, sending waves of calm to soothe his anger. His face softened as his eyes met Sophie's and the corners of her mouth tugged up in a tiny reassuring smile noticeable only to him, he nodded once and fixated his attention back on Fintan who was smirking like a maniac.
"I'm sure you realize but this is my daughter Sophie Foster." He bragged and the newest councilors were shocked as they had never seen Sophie before and only heard of her reputation which admittedly was not at an all-time high.
"Now that she has arrived I'm sure we can get back to your begging for our mercy." Fintan smiled madly and to Keefe's shock Sophie put on a mask of smugness as she matched her father's expression.
"We beg for nothing, we simply offer you a diplomatic solution, compared to the alternative." Fitz bristled his fury fixated on Sophie and Fintan. It was clear neither side was going to back down easily and so Keefe settled in for a long debate.

It was only so long until Keefe noticed something was off, their spy was giving off strange emotions. He was too nervous, too jumpy when his only purpose was to listen and give them a report as to the aftereffect of the meeting but he was acting far out of range for such a simple task. Something was going to happen, something bad.

SOPHIE'S POV

They all hated her, she let Fintan do most of the talking so she had ample time to notice the glares from Biana, Fitz and Dex, Grady and Edaline it seems hadn't been bothered to come as well as Alden and Della. The twins she knew we're on a Black Swan mission, she took care to always personally take care of missions regarding the twins and would simply "stumble" in her execution of stopping them. Keene alone seemed to still have any love for her despite not having any communication with her in half a year. She could sense his inflicting energy anytime Fintan talked about her, touched her, or even looked at her wrong, but every time she was there to tame the emotions burning him up. She sat there eyeballing Keefe for about ten minutes because damn she had forgotten just how hot he was in person. She twisted the silver band on her ring finger nervously, did he still feel the same? Did he still want to marry her after her apparent shift to the dark side? She must have been giving physical and emotional cues because a wave of reassurance and happiness washed over her and she looked up to see Keefe giving her the tiniest of smiles without giving her position away. But as soon as it came the smile was gone, swapped with a shocked expression as his eyes met those of one of the lower-ranked Neverseen members. Of course, she knew which was the spy, they had mannerisms too unique to Black Swan operatives but for some reason, they were surprising Keefe who played for the same team as them. She detected movement out of the corner of her eye and her reflexes kicked in.
"Please don't be what I think this is" she pleaded mentally as she whipped around and sent a burst of red energy into the spy who crumpled to the ground, her knife had been just inches from her fathers back. Fintan turned and watched the spy writhe on the ground in pain, she had to be convincing and so applied just enough pain to inflict the tensing of the muscles and moans instead of full out screams.
Fintan clucked his tongue feigning sympathy as his eyes locked with those of the girl on the ground, a blonde with azure eyes her cheeks were wet with tears. Something told Sophie this assassination attempt was not part of the plan.
"Thank you daughter," he said with a nod to Sophie.
"Release her," Fitz ordered his eyes narrowed, Sophie's head whipped around and she locked eyes with him.
"I have a better idea." Fintan smiled and his eyes met Sophie's again and her stomach sunk to her toes.
"Break her neck."
