Calum: ”Hiiiii!” A voice called from behind you, and you whipped around to face your best friend.
"Hey rockstar!” You greeted him, running over to give Calum a hug. You hadn’t been seeing him recently, due to his band practice and the tour- but it was over now, and he had promised to visit you at the horse stables once he was free.
"How have you been?" Calum asked, pulling away from the hug, and you shrugged absent-mindedly braiding the mane of a horse- a Morgan horse.
"Good, how was touring?"
"Great! It was weird to think that people came to see us perform."
"Well, I’m guessing you don’t suck as much as you used to then?" You smirked, and Calum laughed, shaking his head.
"Yeah, we still suck, but not as much."
He walked over to the other side of the horse and began to run his fingers gently over her back.
"It was weird without you…" You said after a small silence.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. I mean, riding alone was strange."
"But horses hate me anyway!" Calum reminded you, and you couldn’t help but chuckle.
"Exactly. It was weird to ride a horse and not have them kick up a fuss because it doesn’t have a Calum Hood on its back."
"Okay, okay I get it." He laughed.
"Want to go for a ride?" You asked, indicating towards the Morgan that you were grooming seconds ago.
"There’s a spare helmet and my dad’s riding boots over there." You gestured to the corner, and Calum shrugged nodding,
"Sure, why not?" He pulled on the borrowed attire, before swinging on behind you on your horse.
You guided the horse out of the barn, before it began to trot around the huge field.
"Can we call this a date?" Calum randomly blurted out, and you almost spluttered.
"What?"
"I don’t know. I was thinking a lot whilst I was away, and came up with two major thoughts. The first- I like you alot [Y/N].”
You grinned as his grip on you tightened,
"I guess I like you a lot too, Cal."
"Good." He mumbled against your neck, lips pressed to your nape.
"What was your second major thought?" You asked, trying to sound nonchalant and felt him smirk against your bare skin.
"That horse riding would make a great first date, bemygirlfriend.”
"True, and sure."

Ashton: You had been giving Lauren Irwin horse riding lessons for about four months now. Your mums were both good work friends, and after your mum had mentioned to hers that you were a horse rider, Anne Marie couldn’t have been happier. Her daughter had always wanted to try horse riding, and you were more than happy to give her a few lessons every weekend. You owned two horses, one was a Bashkir Curly that belonged to you, and the other was a beautiful Tennessee Walker that belonged to your sister- who was away studying.
After you finished your lessons with Lauren, you would usually just trot around your huge back garden for a while, allowing her some free time with your sister’s horse, whilst you cleaned up in the stables.
"Lauren!" You called out, emerging from the stables and stepping out a little so you could see her.
"Yeah?"
"Let me know when your mum comes to collect you, she wanted to know about your lessons."
"Sure, okay!"
However, when someone did finally come to collect her, it wasn’t Mrs Irwin as you’d hoped.
"Oh, hello." You straightened up to face a boy- hazel eyed and dirty blonde haired, his face burst into a smile when you turned towards him.
"Hi, I’ve come to collect my sister."
"Lauren? Oh, she never told me she had a brother. No wait- she did mention- are you Harry?"
The boy laughed, shaking his head in amusement,
"No no, that’s our younger brother. I’m Ashton." He held out a hand, and you took it smiling,
"[Y/N]" You told him, and he smiled again, dimples and all
"Nice to meet you [Y/N]. My mum’s sorry she couldn’t make it, last minute call into work or something. She wanted you to ring her later- so she could talk about Lauren’s progress or something?"
"Yeah, yeah that’s… um fine. I’ll do that."
"Cool." He shifted a little "Um.. so where is Lauren?”
"She was just-" You stepped out the stables to see her gone, and her horse laying on the ground, obviously tired out from the hot sun.
"I’m here!!" A voice called out, and you turned towards her- petting your kitten.
"You never told me you had a cat." She stated, and you shrugged.
"Yeah, she doesn’t really get along with the horses." You explained "Could you take her inside?"
"Sure!" She smiled, and you noticed how her grin was very similar to Ashton’s.
"Sooooo… [Y/N]…" Ashton said slowly, scratching the back of his neck.
You walked back into the stables, using a curry comb to finish grooming your Curly , and Ashton stood behind you.
"Hm?" You hummed,
"There’s this… barbecue. At our house this weekend, and if you’re not doing anything, I was wondering.."
"If I’d like to come?" You clarified,
"No actually, if you could bring the drinks. We don’t really need you."
He paused, and then broke out into a smile as you rolled your eyes,
"Wow Irwin, sure I’ll bring drinks. The horses usually pee around midday so-"
"Okay okay! Please don’t feed our guests horse urine."
You stared at him for a few seconds, before you both broke out into laughter.
"No but seriously.." Ash said, reminding you of the real subject "You should come along, it’ll be fun."
"Sure okay" You shrugged, "Your mum has my number so just text me the time and stuff.."
"Oh yeah definitely." He nodded, flashing you a smile before turning to walk out the stables.
"See you on Saturday?"
"Saturday." You confirmed.
