Ryan: hey
Brendon: hey! How was practice?
Ryan: Long..
Ryan: I'm exhausted
Brendon: how come? I thought you'd be used to a hard practice
Ryan: we were conditioning mainly and that always kicks my ass
Brendon: at least it's over?
Ryan: yeah I just got out of the shower so I'm ready to fall asleep
Brendon: you should rest then
Ryan: don't leave
Brendon: I wasn't going to
Ryan: good
Brendon: why good?
Ryan: cause I still have a dare :)
Brendon: should I expect something bad?
Ryan: no I don't think so
Brendon: alright what is it?
Ryan: call me
Brendon: call you what?
Ryan: no you dingleberry I want to have a phone call with you before I go to sleep

Incoming Call From Brenny Bear 🐻
R: hello?
B: hello Ryan
Ryan smiled at the faked annoyance in Brendon's voice. He laid back in his bed, staring at the ceiling with a lazy smile on.
R: oh Brendon. What's a surprise!
B: don't act surprised when you wanted me to call you
R: sorry if I was interrupting something
Brendon closed his textbook and placed it on the floor. He got comfortable in his sheets, thinking the phone call would take up the rest of his free time before bed.
B: you're not interrupting anything
R: glad to hear. So what have you been up to while I was at practice?
B: nothing much just working on homework, practicing a little
R: practicing what?
B: my guitar
Brendon's gaze moved over to the guitar leaning against his bed side table.
R: you any good?
B: depends on the day
Ryan chuckled softly at the thought of Brendon's fingers slipping on the strings as he tried mastering a new chord progression or melody.
R: did you just play?
B: I sang too
R: you sing?
B: every now and then
R: you should sing for me
B: now?
R: why not?
B: I don't know
R: please
Brendon shifted in his bed, covering his face with the covers in embarrassment. The action did nothing as his conversation was only audio.
R: I'd really like to hear you sing
B: I guess. What do you want me to sing?
R: anything, something you've sang a thousand times before or something your mom used to sing to you before bed
Brendon spent a minute to think. A part of him got nervous at the thought of performing for Ryan. Another part told him he was just being silly, that Ryan sang, off key, in front of the school for him. He took a deep breath and began singing in a hushed whisper.
B: turn down the lights, turn down the bed
There was a soft gasp from the other end, but Brendon kept going, pushing through the nerves.
B: turn down these voices inside my head, lay down with me, tell me no lies, just hold me close don't patronize, don't patronize me
Ryan's eyes slowly drifted closed. Brendon voice got a fraction louder and completely filled his senses. His tired body relaxed and he felt himself getting drowsy.
B: cause I can't make you love me if you don't, you can't make your heart feel something it won't, here in the dark, in these final hours, I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power
Before Ryan knew it, he was fast asleep, the siren like voice still playing from the phone in his loose grip. Brendon continued singing through the chorus, cautious not to be too loud, but loud enough where he stayed on pitch.
B: but you won't, no you won't, 'cause I can't make you love me, if you don't
There was only even breathing now coming through the reciever. Brendon didn't make a sound, waiting for Ryan to break the silence.
B: Ry?
He waited a little longer for a response. His lips slipped into a smile at the realization that Ryan had fallen asleep. He stayed on the line for another minute, listening to Ryan's childlike snoring before whispering a quiet 'sweet dreams' and hanging up.
He stared at his phone screen at Ryan's contact information before setting it aside and letting himself go to sleep with Ryan resting on his mind.
