3. SCARLET IS LIL

I was completely taken aback by the fact that Scarlet, the most annoying person on earth, my nemesis was standing in front of me with an expression of kindness, sweetness, serenity and calmness all at once. My mind was so boggled and confused that I was more clumsy and careless than usual and I ended up wearing my left shoe in my right leg and my right shoe in my left one. At first, when I saw Scarlet, my primary reaction was anger(naturally), then it slowly turned into surprise , then confusion and finally I ended up being clueless with dozens of questions popping up in my head. Before I could say anything Scarlet spoke up and said 'sorry', now that shook me and brought me back to my senses(Scarlet never says sorry).

 My first thought: scream, shout and kick her , on second thoughts I calmly asked her the only logical question I could think of, 

'Scarlet...Why are you covered in a bunch of tulips?'.

 She smiled gently , but she did not answer my question, instead she came over to me and said shortly 'my name is not Scarlet , you can call me Lil, short for Liliaceae . Now.... I paid enough attention in biology to know that 'Liliaceae' was the family , tulips belonged to and laughed thinking that it was a joke, but I turned serious again when I realized that Scarlet, oh! Sorry Lil, had meant what she said.  'what do you mean , that's not your name, you have always been scarlet, as far as I know' I said. 'You have a lot to learn and discover' she replied. Just when I was going to say something, the door opened and a boy , about my age entered the room. He was tall, slender and athletic looking , he had deep brown eyes that glistened and shimmered with expectation..... No, hope. When I looked into those brown eyes I saw something as vast as the universe. They expressed a thousand things at once and I was captivated by just what I saw. Looking at him, I felt a tug and a connection that came to life just for a second and then flickered out just as quickly as I had felt it.

 He turned to me and said 'It's an honor, my name is Jared , what's yours?'

 I was tongue tied but finally I was able to answer. I said shortly ' it's Jade'.

 Lil cleared her throat and said ' we should go, we don't have much time'. ' where should we go? what do you mean by not having enough time and why should i come with you?' I blurted all of this out in a flurry of hand movements. No one answered .So with no option left, I just followed them with a grumpy face and hands in my pocket. I was still confused and had tons of questions regarding the weirdness of my situation but i decided to go along with it and clarify all of my lingering questions as soon as i got a chance.I still didn't know where we were , we just went on endlessly down the winding corridors until we reached a dead end. ' Great we are lost, thanks to you ', I said with irritation. But I immediately took my cutting statement back when I saw what Lil  did. She simply took out a stem like structure and placed the pointed tip of the staff into a crevice on the wall, the staff fit perfectly and while I was feeling content by the perfect fit of the staff( I am a perfectionist that way :), the bricks on the wall started shifting and vines and flowers started to creep out of tiny spaces between the rusty coloured the bricks. 

I couldn't process what I was seeing for a minute or two and then...... I found myself jumping up and down in complete awe , wonder and excitement. ' whoa , how did you do that!!! am I dreaming or what?'.

 We were standing in front of a doorway and beyond that door...
