Parker's POV

It had about a week of being in the hospital and I was supposed to go home three days ago but the lovely man I call my father (hence the sarcasm) has yet to show up. My brother nor I have seen him since about a week and half ago.

The police have been trying to call him and people who may have seen him but to no avail.

If he didn't show up by this evening, Jerome's parents were going to take responsibility of me until my father shows up and Mitch will stay at Adam's house.

I was so thankful when Jerome's parents offered to get me out of the hospital. I was going insane!

I was walking around the hospital for the second time today to get out of that room I have grown to hate. Since I could have been discharged three days ago and not hooked up to any machines, they let me roam the halls when I wanted. Jerome brought me a new book everyday because I read through them so fast. So far I had read through the entire Hunger Games series and now I was reading the last book of the Divergent series.

I stopped by a room inhabited by an old but lovely lady who noticed me wandering aimlessly one day and has to talked to me for and hour or two. Ever since then I had stopped by her room when I walked.

"Hey Gwen," I said walking into her room.

"Parker! Come in! Come in!"

"How are you this morning?"

"I'm great. My grandkids are visiting me today and the doctors are talking about releasing me in a few weeks," she smiled.

"That's great. I'm happy for you."

Gwen had been in and out of the hospital for the past few months and was eventually just stayed and didn't leave. She had cancer which had made her bald but she was always in such a high spirit.

She had always told me not many people visited her. Her husband died a few years ago and most of her family lived in America.

We talked for awhile until dinner came so I left to get my own dinner.

Entering the room, Jerome and Mitch had set up two chairs in my room facing each other and we're playing a card game.

Jerome looked up at me and smiled.

"Hey babe," he said.

Mitch looked up at me, smirked, and shook his head. He knew we had a thing even though we never told him. He had seen us kissing one time when he came to visit me.

Mitch was better now--nicer. He wasn't the bastard he was before. I was glad but I wasn't able to forgive him yet. I couldn't forget all the things he did and let his friends do. It did seem unfair that I forgave Jerome but of course Jerome was cute, so I didn't care.

I pulled up another chair beside Jerome. Normally there was only two chairs in each room but Jerome and Mitch convinced a nurse to bring up a third chair. They were all an ugly shade of blue, lumpy, and uncomfortable but I wasn't going to complain.

"What are you playing?" I ask Jerome.

"Go fish," he says without hesitation.

"Of course. You guys really are children at heart."

"Hey! This is a very important game of go fish, thank you very much!"

I just shake my head and lean back in my chair watching them play.

"Come on biggums! You cheat!" Jerome says in frustration while throwing down his remaining cards.

"Yeah and you win," Mitch smirks.
