"I can't believe there is only a week until the dance! Has Jerome asked you yet?" My best friend Elle asks me.
"Sadly no," I respond.
"He's going to. He'd be stupid not to take you,"
I looked down at the horrid school lunch in front of me. Today was "meatloaf" and it didn't look like meatloaf.
"Speaking of Jerome, look who's coming you way," Elle tells me.
I turn around and sure enough Jerome is heading towards me.
I had been back in school for about a month now and things were going well. Almost no one knew about us and we planned to keep it like that for awhile. Unless we went to the dance together.
This Friday was the Winter dance our school held every year. I was hoping Jerome would ask me but he hasn't yet.
"Hey Parker," Jerome said sitting beside me.
"Hey Jerome," I said smiling at him.
"I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date tonight?"
"I would love to."
"Okay then. We leave at 5. Wear something... nice."
"Okay then," I smile.
Jerome gets up and retreats back to TeamCrafted.
"Oh my god! I am so coming over and helping you get ready," Elle tells me.
"Fine! I'm not even going to fight with you. Also can we go shopping one day before the dance?" I ask her.
"Yeah sure. We can go on Thursday since we get out early," she replies.
After school, Elle comes home with me to help me get ready for the date. She goes to pick out an outfit while I take a shower. Once I'm back she blow dries my hair and puts it into a messy bun. She shows me my outfit and I'm stunned like always.
It's a black dress that goes mid thigh, a black leather jacket, black leggings, dark red pumps, and a matching red purse.
"This is amazing. It's perfect!" I tell Elle.
"I know! It makes you look beautiful and sexy! Besides who can resist a girl in a leather jacket?" She squeals.
Elle curls my hair and applies light make up except for the lip. she uses red to match my shoes and clutch.
"Well, well, well. Is my beautiful girlfriend ready to go?" Jerome asks on the other side of the closed door.
"One second!" Elle yells.
I quickly get dressed and then Elle leaves the room to give Jerome and I some privacy. I open the door and let Jerome looks at me. He takes in my appearance before wrapping me in hug and kissing me gently on the lips.
"You look beautiful," he whispers.
"And you look very handsome," I tell him.
"Ready to go?"
"Yep."

Jerome pulled up to Red Lobster. We walked into the restaurant holding hands. Everything went well until the waiter came to take our orders.
"Hello there. I'm Max. What can I get you to drink handsome?" The waiter said directing his question towards Jerome.
I held back my laugh as Jerome told the man his order and I told him mine.
"Oh my god Jerome. You just got hit on by a guy," I laugh.
"It's because I'm so handsome. Not even men can resist me," he smirks.
I nearly spit out the sip of water from laughter.
When the bill came on the bottom was a phone number, no doubt the waiter's. If we had had a girl waiter I would have gone ape shit but I wasn't worried because Jerome wasn't gay or at least I think he isn't.
I was disappointed when we reached the front porch of the house and Jerome hadn't said anything about the dance. I know I was over reacting but I felt tears well up in my eyes. Jerome looked at me with a worried look.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing I'm fine. I'm just over reacting to something I was thinking about," I tell him. It was at least half true.
"No you're not. Let's sit down," he says leading me to the hanging bench on the porch.
"Seriously tell me what's wrong?"
"I just... I was hoping you would ask me to the dance. I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't be getting upset over this," I say as I hide my face.
"Babe, stop. It's okay," he says moving my hands from my face. " I was going to ask you tonight but I couldn't find the right time.
Jerome gets down on one knee in front of me.
"Parker Diana Reid Hughes, will you go to the dance with me?"
"You're so cheesy and I'd be honored," I smile before kissing him.

"Okay why are you dragging me to Victoria's Secret?" Elle asked me as we entered none other than Victoria's Secret.
"I want to get something for Friday," I tell her honestly.
She stops instantly and turns me around, a smug look on her face.
"Hmm. Someone thinking about the frickle frackle are we?"
"Yes now shh! I want to find something to go under my dress and I need something strapless."
"I see," she says making me want to smack the smug look off her face. "Go for something like what I gave you but strapless. The red goes good with your skin tone," she tells me.
After searching, we find one I like, we pay, and leave.
"You must tell me all the details on Monday! Okay not all the details but some," Elle commands as we part ways.
"Ugh fine. Will do!" I yell at her.
What was I going to do with her?
