JJ and I were sharing a blunt and a hammock on John B's porch, I was curled into his side and he kept pressing kisses on the top of my head. He'd been more touchy-feely with me today around the others, they knew we were practically together anyway and no one objected so it didn't really matter if we were affectionate.

"Y/N," JJ started, his tone was serious and it made me sit up, worried that something was wrong.
"I have something to ask you."

I nodded solemnly, and he took my hands in his, putting out the burnt end of the blunt and chucking it into the bushes.
"Do you wanna date me, like for real?"

I smirked at him and sent him a grin.
"Are you asking me to be your girlfriend, JJ Maybank?"

"Yeah, so will you be my girlfriend?" he asked nervously.

"Of course," I smiled happily, kissing his cheek but he pulled me in for a real kiss.
"I can't wait to kiss you in front of the others, make everyone know you're mine."

"I think the hickeys you give me are enough to make it it very clear," I smirked.

Being JJ's girlfriend made me so happy, he was really affectionate in public, never embarrassed to show me off, and when it was just the two of us he was sweet and gentle, telling me how beautiful I was and kissing me when I woke up.

"You guys practically live here, wanna move in officially to the spare bedroom? Like bring your stuff here and shit. It's got an actual bed, rather than you having to share the couch all the time," John B offered kindly.

We were so grateful, my family were ignoring me for no reason and JJ's dad was getting more drunk and violent so it would be a chance to live peacefully.

"You know what, this room doesn't even feel cold anymore," I said on the night we moved in.

"It's cause you're so hot babe," JJ winked and I laughed.

We walked hand in hand to John B's house but stopped when we saw him making out with a girl on the couch. They stopped when they saw the two of us and I realised the girl was Sarah Cameron - her family were some of the richest kooks in Outer Banks, not to mention her brother was Rafe.

"Are you fucking kidding me? Sarah Cameron? The kook princess!" JJ yelled, and we all turned to look at him.

"I don't know why it's such a big deal," John B said.

"Her brother literally groped Y/N at a party, not to mention all the times he's kicked our asses," JJ spat.

Everyone turned to look at me and my cheeks reddened as I faced the floor.

"Wait what? Y/N is this true?"

I nodded, and Sarah apologised on behalf of her brother.

"So there's a rule against macking on other pogues, which you clearly don't care for anyway, but I can't mack on a kook either?" John B yelled, and I'd never heard him this frustrated.

"Whatever, fuck whoever you like. I'm out of here."

Everyone stared at JJ as he stormed out of the house and I was torn between going after him and staying with .

"I'm-I don't know why he's being like that. I'm gonna make sure he doesn't do anything stupid," I told the others, jogging to catch up with my boyfriend.
