Shayne entered a cave in The Drukkaven Vales, looking for The Urn of Demonic Hope. His eyes were still glowing green, as he has now collected the gems from both crowns. They remained in his pocket as he ventured deeper into the cave, the only light coming from his glowing green eyes. The spell he cast on the gems caused them to glow brighter and brighter as he walked forward in the cave. Eventually, he came to a shrine lit by the sun through an opening above it. In the shrine laid the urn, and Shayne smiled. He pulled out the gems and placed them in each marked crevice on the urn. Then, the urn glowed green, and filled up with some liquid. Without even questioning it, Shayne picked it up and drank it all. He set the urn back down and it melted onto the pedestal it sat on, showing an image of what Shayne desired most: his old life with Damien, but that just made him angry.
"No," he shouted, and it echoed throughout the cave. "I'm not going back to him, not like this. Fix me, or give me hope here. In this time." The pedestal shook in response to what Shayne spoke, and a voice appeared. It seemed to him the pedestal was talking, but a pedestal is an inanimate object. It cannot talk.
"Only you can fix yourself," the voice spoke to him. Shayne sighed, shaking his head as he held back tears.
"I can't," he responded. "I'm broken, I can't be fixed."
"You hold such little hope," the voice told him. "Your only happiness is your friend."
"Was. He was my friend. I messed everything up. I can't bear to see his face anymore, and he won't want to see me."
"Your friend will forgive you."
"I know he will. I know he won't care who I am when I go back, but I will. I care about being this broken with him, and I don't want him to see me the way I am. I'd rather hurt myself than hurt him."
"Your friend will forgive you."
"Yeah, I know, you said that."
"He will forgive you."
"I know," Shayne shouted at the pedestal. In the heat of his anger, his eyes glowed brighter, then he held his head, groaning.
"You need to let go," the voice told him. "Release the power. Forget Lucifer's goals. They are meaningless to you."
"Meaningless? I was on his side, I was helping him."
"That is meaningless to you. They are not your goals."
"I know, but... but..."
"Go home, Shayne. Release."
"What about my powers?"
"They will cease for a while. Sorcerer Shadow and his mother, a mage, won't exist for centuries, but be on the lookout for the mage: Scarlet Anne. Once her powers come into fruition, yours will return, and you will need to use them."
"What am I supposed to do?"
"You will know when you meet her. Goodbye." The pedestal gave off a bright light and blinded Shayne. The next thing he knew, he was standing in front of the office building, with all of his friends checking on Courtney. He stood there for a second, gathering his bearings. He was free of the burdens of the future, and for the first time in a long time, he smiled truthfully.
"Yeah, I just... I don't know what came over me. I think I need some water," she said, feeling a wave of confusion. Damien began to speak, but Shayne cut him off, hugging him.
"Hey dude," Damien mentioned, hugging back awkwardly.
"I'm so happy to see you," Shayne told him, pulling away from the hug.
"Shayne, are you okay," Joven asked, confused. Everyone turned their focus from Courtney to Shayne, and he just stood there, staring in the eyes of his friends. Then, his memory shifted, and it seemed like he never left. He remembered nothing extraordinary. Absolutely nothing, and the voice had something to do with it. The only thing on his mind was the name the voice told him: Scarlet Anne. He sighed, smiling to himself. He had no face to put to the name, but was excited to find her, and the longer it took for them to meet, the stronger the connection in their subconsciousness grew.
"I'm fine," Shayne told his friends. They all walked inside as Shayne stopped for a second, breathing in another breath of industrial, 2018 air. He turned around, watching the people on the sidewalk, relieved for an unknown reason. He looked up at the sky in thanks, and in response, the sun glowed green.
