Dave's POV
"come on, didn't you say you were hungry" she nodded in answer "then let's get a move on, I happen to have reserved the best seats in the house" i smiled at her and dragged her to the kitchen. I'd get Ramon to whip up some omelets, his were the bomb! they were most of the reason my restaraunt was so popular.
When I walked out the kitchen doors I took Becca towards the stairs at the other end of the restaraunt.
"close your eyes" I wanted it to be a surprise, no one but me ever came up here. I had a feeling she would love it. I watched as a curious expression passed over her features but she finally did as I asked.
"I really hope you're not bringing me up to the roof only to feed me a wonderful breakfast and then throw me off the edge ultimately leading to my death" for a second i thought she was joking, but the tone of her voice made me realize she was serious.
"why must all these scenarios result in me ending your life? do you have one of those weird death complex's?" she laughed. A real laugh, not one of those grating titters all the mindless girls i've dated laughed like. she laughed like she wasn't affraid of anything, or anyone. but she was, i saw it in the wounded expression in her eyes. Once upon a time someone had hurt her, badly.
"-cause that would be weird" it was only now i realized she had been talking for the past few minutes.
"I'm sorry what'd you say? I wasn't paying attention before, but now I'm all ears" her cheeks got adorably flushed and she hid behind her hands. "Don't worry it's not important"
"hey don't hide yourself from me, I think it's cute when you blush" this only made her blush harder. I wasn't lying, she was absolutely adorable when she blushed. "And Becca?"
"Yeah?" she looked up with real curiosity
"Everything you say is important to me" she scoffed
"Wow real slick, do you tell that to all the ladies you crash into on the sidewalk?"
"Hey! it wasn't a line! I was being serious!"
"Sure you were" she winked at me. I meant to say something witty in response but lost my train of thought as she blinked up at me with her gorgeous eyes. people are always complimenting me on my eyes but I always brush it off. I didn't think eyes could actually be pretty until I saw her's. Hey two people with pretty eyes. maybe it's fate. naw, now i just sounded cocky. though I really do believe in fate.
"Hello, hellooo. Dave!" I blinked and realized she was waving her hand in front of my eyes. Dammit! I really had to stop spacing out around her all the time, she probably thinks I'm a lunatic.
"Are we there yet or what?" she said impatiently.
"Oh yeah! sorry let me just get the door" I opened the hevy rooftop door and ushered her though, making sure to put a door stop under so we wouldnt get locked out. the roof of the restaraunt was a virtual dead spot. the phone company couldn't understand why there was no service up here, but i liked it just the same. I came up here whenever i needed to think. It was so peaceful up here, plus no one could bother me with the no service and all. the only downside is that if i ever did get locked up here there'd be virtually no escape. My employees never came up here because it was my place, and no one else knew about it. Well besides my sister Rachel, but even she rarely came up here without me. I looked over at Becca to seee her reaction to my sanctuary.
