You Hurt Me~ Newt Fan Fiction ~

~Lost Cause~

Newt looks at me and I look back unsure of what to say. I just hurt him.. I broke his heart. He hands me a carved stick with my injured hand and I wince and he notices. He inspects my hand tracing the bandage with his fingers. He had a frown on his face.

“What did you do?” He whispers really quietly. I thought I imagined it or my mind was playing tricks on me but as soon as he looked up expectantly I knew he said it. My mind races as my heart thumps wildly.

“Tried to climb a tree…broke three fingers but uh- Minho fixed it for me.” I stutter. He winces at every word I said. He says nothing as he replaces the stick into my other hand and scoots along in his position. I stare at the terrifying loop at the end of the stick. Surely Alby would survive the maze. He was bulky, in good shape and he can beat anyone at a hand to hand combat. I heard Newt shout to bring Alby in. Alby limps into view, He looks even worse.

His eyes were a dull gray and lifeless, still looking crazily at everything. His lips were even more a unhealthy dark purple and his hair was unruly and unmaintained properly. He glanced at everyone viciously until his eyes landed on me. I tried to keep his gaze, show I am fearless, but I find it very hard. His eyes turn cold and a dark, withering black colour as he tries to pry free from the restraints. Her shouts unruly things in a gruff, crazy voice that sends chills up my spine. He snarled at me.

“She’s evil!!” The shank created the maze!The maze! Kill her! Your making a big shuckin’ mistake!” He screams with a voice that crackles like sandpaper. Newt glances at me briefly furrowing his eyebrows.

“In position Gladers!” He screams while picking up his stick. Everyone simultaneously copied him. In lifted up my stick carefully. Alby gave a cold stare as he showed his teeth that looked like coal. He hissed, trying to scratch the Gladers who kept a firm grip on him. They kneeled Alby down in front of me ordering my to attach the loop onto his neck. I hesiantatedbefore I secured the loop on his neck. He took the opportunity to grab my ankle. I squealed as Newt and a couple of surrounding Gladers rushed to my side. Newt pulled me out of his grasp.

Everyone started to chant the words.I looked for an opportunity to step in and help but Alby looked emotional and physically damaged so him still able to live ordinarily and keep his role as a leader was a lost cause.

“We banish Alby for attacking our Greenie, Katy. He shall now be Banished for violation of the rules.” They repeted closing in on Alby forcing him towards the entrance of the maze.

“Your makin a big shuckin’ mistake you shanks!” Alby screamed at the top of his lungs drowning out the repeated words. I heard the familiar thunder of the Maze walls closing in. Alby backed away into the maze trying to get the loop off his neck. I winced. He screamed again and again. The walls finally clanged shut with a giant thud. I breathed heavily.
