Now that Peter was supposedly dead, Sam didn't know what to do.
She was really bawling. What would she do without her brother.
Sam had been away from Peter since she was five, but now that he's actually on Captain Hook's pirate ship supposedly walking the plank, she was really sad about it.
"Peter? What do I do now?" Sam said while staring at the sky. She needed to make a decision as to wether she should cry until she couldn't breathe or help the Beatles.
Sam started to sing to herself.
I've seen dark before, but not like this
This is cold, this is empty, this is numb
The life I knew is over, the lights are out
Hello, darkness, I'm ready to succumb
I follow you around, I always have
But you've gone to a place I cannot find
This grief has a gravity, it pulls me down
But a tiny voice whispers in my mind
You are lost, hope is gone
But you must go on
And do the next right thing
Can there be a day beyond this night?
I don't know anymore what is true
I can't find my direction, I'm all alone
The only star that guided me was you
How to rise from the floor?
But it's not you I'm rising for
Just do the next right thing
Take a step, step again
It is all that I can to do
The next right thing
I won't look too far ahead
It's too much for me to take
But break it down to this next breath, this next step
This next choice is one that I can make
So I'll walk through this night
Stumbling blindly toward the light
And do the next right thing
And, with it done, what comes then?
When it's clear that everything will never be the same again
Then I'll make the choice to hear that voice
And do the next right thing
The next right thing was to help the Beatles get their fame back so Sam flew back to Broadway to do so.
But she still couldn't hide her grief. She needed someone to hold onto.
She thought back on when she and Peter met the producers and remembered that Leo recently experienced extreme loss too.
Sam realized that there was only one person she could go to. Leo.
When she got there, her friends were happy to see her.
"Sammy! What took you so long?" Charles Wallace squealed as he jumped on her to give her a hug.
Sam didn't say anything. She just hugged Charles Wallace back.
"Sam! You got here just in time. We were just about to start practicing!" said John.
"That's great boys" Sam said sadly. Paul noticed and said "Wait. What's the matter? Are you alright? You look like you just went through something".
"I did go through something. But I don't wanna talk about it" Sam sighed.
"Good. We don't wanna hear about it!" George said carelessly.
"Come on, George! Anything we can do?" said Calvin. "Not unless you can change the past" Sam said.
"Sam, I was sickly as a kid, so I would give anything to change the past. But... you can't" said Ringo matter-of-factly.
"I know" Sam said trying to hold back tears.
Max then came downstairs and said "Beatles! The show's tomorrow and ya gotta be ready. Back to work"
"Wow. Mr Bialystock is stricter than Brian Epstein" said Meg. "Hey. Tough producing is still producing" said Calvin.
"Sam! You're here! Wasn't your brother supposed to come with ya?" said Max.
Sam didn't want to explain anything and just said "no".
"Sam. What's going on kid?" said Max.
"Is Mr Bloom around?" Sam asked. "I should say he is. Why?" said Max.
"I need to see him" answered Sam.
"Straight up the stairs" said Max.
And Sam quickly climbed up the stairs.
The Beatles are almost back on track!
But what will happen between Leo and Sam now that they're both grieving really hard?
Let's find out together, shall we?
And here's the link to the song Sam sang here.
Peace and love,
Sammy
