Olivia's POV

The car ride was quiet. Lex's hands were lightly wrapped around the steering wheel and he drove slowly. His eyes darting back and forth.

"Are you ok?" I asked him.

"Yea. I'm just trying to be safe" he responds. Quickly slamming on the breaks as a minivan cut in front of us. He put his hand in front of me so to stop me from jolting forward. After the quick stop, he snaps his head to look over at me. Assessing the damage.

"Are you ok?" He asks frantically. Scanning me. I just smile slightly at his protective nature.

"Yea I'm fine," I say. He looks me over again. As if making sure. I just nod. He begins driving again. Every so often I feel his stare burning into me. Every so often I turn to look at him. His mouth is in a line and his brow is furrowed.

"Are you ok?" I ask after a few times of noticing him like this. He turns to glance at me.

"Yea," he says. We don't talk more after that till we pull up next to a cute little house. He parks the car, opens his door, and rushes over to my side. Opening my door before I have the chance. I blush as he offers me a hand to step down from the large car.

"Where are we?" I ask. Looking at the cute little cottage that's surrounded by trees.

"This is my getaway" Lex responds. He steps forward towards the door still holding my hand. He pushes the door open.

"Come on" he urges. I follow him into the cottage and he flips the light switch. The house lights up with fairy lights and twinkles. It's a homey feel. With big plush couches, and hardwood flooring.

"It's really nice," I say stepping into the room a little further. I go over to the couches and run my hand over the smooth leather.

"Thank you, I decorated myself," Lex says. Puffing out his chest. Obviously proud of this space.

"Here lemme show you around" he exclaims offering his hand. I place my smaller hand in his large one and he leads me towards a door on the other side of the cabin.

The door opens to reveal a small doc onto the lake. Tied to the dock is a cute little speed boat. Big enough for about two people to fit comfortably. On the other side of the dock was a rowboat with a fishing pole sticking out of a little stand on the side.

"Wanna go for a ride?" Lex asks. Gesturing to the rowboat.

"Yea," I say. Excitement building in my stomach. I had never been on a boat. Hunter's face lights up like a kid on Christmas morning. He practically skips over to the small speed boat. He grabs the side to steady it. And gestures for me to enter. I walk over the rickety dock to get over to him and carefully step into the boat. Not letting it wobble too much. Lex chuckles at my carefulness. I turn back to him.

"Don't laugh" I whine at him. This only makes him laugh harder.

"What?" I ask.

"You're just cute" Lex replies and pokes my nose. I put my hand on my nose. The electricity of his touch spreading through me and the blush painting my cheeks. There's a little bit of silence.

"Well, let's go on an adventure," he says breaking the silence. I smile at him. Thankful that I didn't have to break it.

"Hold onto the dock so it's steady" he instructs me. I nod and hold the brittle dock in my hands.

"Ow!" I yelp. As a splinter slips into my hand. I let go of the dock just as Lex is stepping in. This causes him to fly forward into the water.

With a splash, his whole body is submerged. I quickly turn to the other side of the boat and frantically search the water with my eyes. In a second he's at the surface.

"Are you ok?" I sputter reaching my hand forward. He takes it and I do my best to pull him back into the boat. Once he's back in he starts to laugh.

"Are you ok?" I repeat worried he may have hit his head.

"Yes, I just..." he can't even finish his sentence before bursting out laughing once again. I can't help but join in. His laughter is a song. Its sweet melody fills the air surrounding me and holding me close.

Both of us are doubled over laughing in the small boat. Lex still soaking wet. His clothes dripping. Once we sobered up I noticed how he was slightly shivering.

"Come on you need to get warm," I say. He pouts.

"But we didn't go anywhere" he whines. I smile at his cute disappointed face.

"A reason to come back," I say. He smiles at this.

"Ok but hold the dock this time!" He commands. I laugh at his serious face. I carefully place my hands on the dock. He steps up safely.

Once he's standing on solid ground he reaches down. Offering me his hand as I had done for him. He pulls me carefully and pulls me into a hug. His cold wet form traps me.

"Lex!" I complain. He laughs down at me.

"Come on, I keep spare clothes in the house" he laughs and heaters down the dock.

We start walking together side by side. Our hands brushing each other. It's a quiet walk. The creaking of the dock and the splashing of the water are the only sounds that fill our ears. We reach the door of the cabin and he holds it for me.

"Thank you," I say and turn to look at him. He's smiling.

"No problem" he responds. He gently takes my hand and leads me into the cabin.

He opens a door and leads me into a small bedroom. It's plain and simple. A bed sits against the cream-colored wall. The floor is a hardwood. There are two matching dressers with a large mirror sitting on top and a circular red rug placed in the middle of the floor.

Lex releases my hand and goes over to the dressers. He tries to open the top drawer but it seems stuck. He keeps pulling until it squeaks open. He pulls out some clothes. Lex then turns to me.

"Here. They're mine and they're clean" he says throwing me a t-shirt and a pair of basketball shorts.

"Thanks," I say, and leave the bedroom. Opening another door in the short hallway to find a plain bathroom. I shut the door behind me and finally let myself blush.
