To say I am shocked is an understatement. I am freaking out. In the centre of the room sits the owner of the voice her back to us. I look up to mom for help but she urges me on.
How does she know we are here without seeing us? The whole thing playing up right before my eyes scares me. The place already gives me the creeps. The short grayish haired old woman just adds to the spice.
With sudden movements, the old woman turns around. My eyes are the size of the saucer when my gaze meets hers. It is not her wrinkly face that does it. No. I expected that for an old woman. It is her eyes. They are full on white without an iris. Anyone in my shoes would be mortified except no one looks that part.
Their faces look unfazed by how her eyes look. Maybe I am overdoing it. Someone should have warned me atleast.
"I have been waiting to meet you for so long Lyka." The old woman addresses. Of course she is looking at me. If I am not imagining things, she also called me by my name. Horror feels my body.
"Come here dear." The old woman sires. I remain glued to my position. Who am I kidding? I am not going to lie but she still freaks me out despite the amiable smile on her face.
"Go." Mom mouthes.
"Come on Lyka." The old woman nudges.
Hesitantly, I take her outstretched hand. I should have known it was a trap. People like her weren't normal. My theory is confirmed when jolts of electricity fire through my entire body making me almost suffer a seizure.
It freaking hurts but she doesn't let go.
"It is time to face your destiny child." Her white eyes look more scary at the moment while I fight for pain inside my body. The woman is too strong for an old lady."You need strength. However I can feel how brave you are. Just like your mother, a pure heart lies beneath your flesh."
Her words make little sense to me right now by the fact that the jolts are uncomfortable.
"The blood of your ancestors flows through your veins." she continues just before her pale face turns paler and becomes bitter. Her eyes turn darker this time. These are things that happen straight out of a movie but I am in real life and I think am about to pee my pants.
"Apocalypse."
The old woman mumbles in a hard mortifying tone.
"She is coming. She is going to destroy everyone. The evil one is coming." She grips my hand tighter. I am sure it is going to bruise the moment she lets go."Save the people. Find the key to unlock the mystery beneath."
Unconsciously I start to shake terribly. It becomes more painful the more she holds. That is until she shows me what she wanted me to see. I see it happen before my own eyes and the only thing I can do is scream so hard.
None of the people in the room make a move to help. Pity looks are cast my way but none makes a move to come near or stop the old woman.
"Fight the darkness with light. Find the key to the light." Her grip falters.
"Find the key to the mystery beneath." She repeats in a pleading tone.
By now I am numb both from the pain and the visions. I can't trust my legs to hold me any longer. My vision is blurry too. I hear voices. So many voices yet so distant.
Strong arms lead me out of the cottage but I can still hear her voice in my head clearer than the noise. Evil. Darkness. Light. Death. Life. The woman's voice continues chanting.
I am throwing up all I had for breakfast before I even know it. Mom pats my back while she holds my hair for me.
"Are you okay dear?" Mom asks. Am I? I am not certain about many things but I sure as hell not fine.We make it back to the cars quietly before we drive away. The entire journey back home is hush. Gabriel offers me his jacket when I feel cold. He also keeps checking on me from the rearview mirror.
As soon as we reach the mansion, I head for my room. I have never been so eager to be in that room than now. Ignoring mom's voice, I lock the door. Whatever happened back at the cottage didn't leave me the same. I definitely need some space.
Fortunately I make it just in time for the toilet before I puke all over the floor. I definitely needed the toilet. When I am done, I clean up before I head to bed. I need to rest.

The throbbing inside my head forces a groan out of my mouth. I feel like a train wreck, worse to be exact. Nothing can explain what is happening right now except it is the old woman's doing.
"Good morning."
I raise my eyes to find the intruder. Steel gray eyes lock with mine. My face gives me away because Gabriel is the last person I expected to see first today.
"I brought some Advil. It is for the headache." He adds quickly when I keep staring unmoving.
Eagerly, I take the pills and the glass of water he offers."What time is it?" I ask dryly.
"Nine."
I gaped in shock realising I slept for over ten hours. Lillian enters with a tray in hand before I have a mental breakdown. Putting it down, she excuses herself."The food will help you regain some strength." Gabriel peers down at the tray beside me. The food looks delicious which makes my stomach grumble in anticipation.
"Thanks."
Shit! I must have made a fool out of myself. It is until I have eaten to the brim that I realise Gabriel never left the room. He still stands inside the room staring at me. It feels so awkward now that I realise it.
"Have you had breakfast yet?" I ask trying to deter some of the akwardness.
"Yes but thanks for asking." he replies. While I look for another conversation starter, Gabriel beats me to it.
"I know how hard it was for you yesterday but Lyka, what did the old woman show you?"Way to spoil my morning. I would rather talk about freaking trigonometry all day than talk about yesterday.
"It is okay if you don't want to talk about it yet. You can always tell us when you feel fine." he adds.I stare down at my almost empty cup and plate thinking thoroughly. For minutes, the room is gravely quiet I can hear my own breathing.
"Apocalypse."
I murmur lowly. I didn't know he caught on until he raised his stare to mine.
"We are all going to die if we don't stop Helena. That is what the old woman showed me." I affirm. If Gabriel is horrified as me, he doesn't show. Memories of the events she showed me still scar my brain till now. I can see how everyone dies, how everything is destroyed but above all, I can see how I die.
"Lyka, are you fine?" A soft touch on my hand awakes me. I am hyoerventilating. I am not fine. Instead I nod my head wordlessly.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Good then because we have less than an hour to start."Gabriel glances at his watch then back to me before he walks out of the room leaving me to my thoughts.
