We all stared at Jin silently as his hands trembled

We all stared at Jin silently as his hands trembled. I hope I didn't hear him correctly. My heart started burning right away, and for some reason I felt like breaking apart. Chung Ae was a stranger, a complete stranger, but he has been nothing but sweet and helpful the whole entire time. He treated me like his younger sister. He was the one who treated Jimin when he nearly died, the one who tried helping Taehyung when he was stuck, and also the one who took care of me and my wounds. Without him, we would've probably been dead by now, all of us, and now, he is gone. We lost an angel.

"Are you sure?" Namjoon asked and then moved forward and stuck two fingers against Chung Ae's neck. I could already tell by the pale color of his body that he was long gone, but I still found the need to hear the news from Namjoon, mainly because my brain couldn't process it. I couldn't believe it.

Namjoon looked down with sorrow and slid his fingers off Chung Ae's neck slowly. My heart was hammering against my chest, and it hurt. It felt as though I was being strangled.

Namjoon retreated to his place without saying a single word, head down the whole time. We all understood what that meant, so we too looked down with grief. I couldn't help but look at his face. The one thing I stared at was the amounts of blood that decorated his forehead. Of course most of it was washed off, but it seems like blood was still flowing out of his injury. His lower lip was decorated with blood too, and there was a slight bruise near his jawline. His eyes were closed, and his head was tilted slightly to the side. His hands were open and his arm rested peacefully next to his body. His lips turned into a mixture of light purple and blue and his hair got stuck to his forehead since it was wet. Despite all his injuries, he still looked like an angel.

I was about to say something but my breath got caught in the middle of my throat, making my eyes tear up. There was no use in attempting CPR on him anymore. Even if I assumed that Jin didn't perform it properly, there was nothing that I can do now to help. His heart stopped beating, and his breathing stopped. His entire world came to an end.

I encouraged myself to take some steps towards his cold, dead body and kneeled down next to him. My eyes were already filled with hot tears so there was no point in resisting my desire to cry. I lowered my head and started sobbing silently.

"I'm sorry Chung Ae," I mumbled to myself before taking his hand in mine. His body felt extremely cold, and that was how I confirmed the fact that he was definitely dead for the last time. His hand shook vigorously against my trembling ones. I licked my dry lips and let go of his hand, then stood up and turned around to find five men looking at me with obvious pain and grief in their eyes. I wiped my tears away and stood in silence for a couple of seconds. Everything happened so quickly that I didn't have a chance to register all the events properly. We found Hoseok and Jimin regained his consciousness, then we were on a drive to the emergency camps, but we all fell into the river. We saved Jimin; we saved Hoseok; we saved everyone else, except for Chung Ae. We lost one person.
