Earth Mode ON: THIRTY SIX

"Hey. Seo Yeon. Wake up," I heard someone say faintly as he shook me.

"Hey," I heard again along with continuous snapping sounds next to my ear.

I opened my eyes slowly but then shut them tight again as the sunlight found it's way into them.

I kept on fluttering my eyelids until my vision got adjusted to the light intensity. The moment I realized where I was, I immediately sat up straight. I was in a truck and was surrounded by many people I didn't know. In front of me was Namjoon looking at me with worry. I think I looked too scared at that moment that Namjoon thought something was wrong with me.

"Are you okay?" He asked me with furrowed eyebrows.

"W-Where am I? Where is everyone?" I asked him then took a look around. Namjoon and I were the only ones left in the truck, and around us were many people, some of which were injured and some who were assisting the injured. The place was crowded and loud. It sounded as if something was buzzing in my ears, and it didn't feel good. I heard screams of pain, of sorrow; I heard people calling out for others and some cries in the middle.

"It's okay. We are safe now," Namjoon said and tried to calm me down.

"Are we in the emergency camps?" I asked him and he gave me a small, reassuring smile with a slight nod.

"We are. Taehyung and Jin hyung took Hoseok hyung and Jimin to get treated. It is just you and me now. I think I'll have to take you to get your leg treated too," He said and I let out a breath.

"Come on," He said and helped me descend the truck.

"How did we get here? The last thing I remember was us staying near the shore," I asked Namjoon who smiled at me and gestured me to start moving. He told me to throw an arm around his shoulder and act like I was deeply injured so they would treat me immediately.

"Long story. I'll make sure to tell you all about it after you feel better," He said then layed me down on the bed a nurse lead us to.

"Please lie down here. A doctor will come to your assistance immediately," She said and left.

We both nodded at her and mouthed a thank you. I looked around me and observed everything. The place was filled with beds, yet there were many people who couldn't find a place to lie down. There was a lot of blood on the floor and on most bed sheets as well as many nurses running around from one patient to the next. The sounds of clashing trays and screaming patients filled the place. Overall, it was just chaotic. The sight in front of me actually made my heart clench from pain. It felt as if it was no longer pumping blood to the rest of my body. There were people who were looking for their lost family members, and others who were deeply injured and had to get stitched without any anesthesia.

Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder, so I flinched then looked up to find Namjoon smiling at me reassuringly.

"It will be alright. I promise," He said.
