Baldric wandered into his room, feeling exhausted and distracted. He fell face first into his bed, sighing heavily into the sheets.

"You seem to have had quite the day," quipped a voice from beside him.

Turning his head, the man was not surprised to see Ashtai curled up in his armchair with a book.

He turned over onto his back and looked up while rubbing his fingers over his temples.

"I'm sorry, Little One. I have just been a bit frustrated today. People here really need to loosen up and accept their feelings. The world would be so much better off that way."

Now, she was intrigued.

"What happened?" she asked softly, her hand reaching out to stroke his face, "You're usually so good at making people see eye-to-eye."

There was a heavy groan and he tousled his white hair, "Land disputes. Lady Dresnin wishes to expand her bath house, but Lord Krenic claims he owns the land she wishes to use. Petty squabble, really. They both have more money than they could ever need or want. No, this is spite. And sexual tension, might I add."

She laughed gently behind the pages of the tome.

"They think no one notices their game. That I would not notice their game."

"Pleeeeasssse," he purred, "No one hides that easily from me."

He flaunts his power and wealth to her, she flaunts her holdings and wealth to him."

"So what did you do?"

"Well, told them what I needed to of course," he grinned, " Shut the bath house, take off their clothes and FUCK. Honestly, it's so simple."

Her eyes grew wider as she did her best, this time, to hide her laughter.

"She acted like I was a monster for even suggesting it, and he just turned almost as red as me! But I walked away after that. I wouldn't be surprised if Yasmin doesn't hunt me down and flay me."

She couldn't hold the laughter in any longer and allowed it to finally fill the room. He enjoyed the sound for a bit before absent-mindedly moving over in his bed to make room for her. She put down her tome and sat next to him.

He could feel his tail flick out for a moment in her direction before he managed to stop it mid air.

"You're not the only one to notice how hard the Lord tries," she added, "But she is a prude. I daresay we lock them in a box for a week and see how they fare. It's definitely the ONLY way to get it done. You add pride and stubbornness into the mix and you're in for one difficult night."

The idea of locking the two of them in a box please him greatly.

"Imagine living life so full of yourself, that you can not let anyone else in. Imagine being so... so unfulfilled."

She leaned back into the bed until she was right beside him, looking up at him, "Pride blocks a lot of common sense, and a lot of pleasure."

There was a small shudder that rippled through the back of his neck as she said the word pleasure, but he nodded at the sentiment "I'm quite glad your mind is open as it is... Without you, this place would drive me insane."

Rolling onto her side, she smirked, "Yes, as if you weren't crazy already."

He shrugged, also rolling onto his side to look her in the eyes, continuing with her jest "I suppose you're right. But even as crazy as I am, you stick around. So I must not be too unpleasant."

He ran his tongue over one of his fangs, "I know you are not unpleasant to me."

She moved into him, her head under his chin.

"Speaking of," he continued, "You're in my room. Is there a way I can be of service?"

She feigned surprise "Your room?"

"Mhm, my room."

"Oh, silly me. Must have let myself into the wrong room again," she shot back, a sly smile dancing on her lips.
