"You are unbelievable Dawn, unbelievable. I love you, but your stupid ass is so rash, ugh I don't even know what to say you're just really so stupid that even if I've known you for years you never fail to amaze me"

The called stupid girl laughs with her eyes at the road. She opens her mouth, about to say something, but was cut off by her best friend on the phone who says "And no it is not a compliment I know you're about to say that"

She laughs harder, finding her stressed out best friend entertaining.

But what did Dawn do to be called stupid once again by her own best friend?

The moment she was allowed to leave school, she goes home, packs her stuff, and drives to her mom's place. Partly to visit her because she misses her mother and her step dad, but also because she needs to look for a book.

A book.

It really isn't a big deal to do this on such a short notice, but Jess is not capable of processing unplanned trips. This has always been a problem of hers, but the woman is too proud to admit that it is a problem in need of fixing.

"I'm ending the call, Jess. Have fun being alone in the apartment while I'm gone!"

"Hey no wai-" Jess says, but is cut off by her rude best friend. Jess did not really mind the rudeness, and Dawn is not in the mood to listen to hours of Jess' lectures on why making last minute decisions is a very impulsive thing to do that Dawn will probably regret later on.

While the car is stopped, Dawn goes through her phone and looks for the app where she plays her music in, chooses a playlist, and hits the shuffle button.

Instantly, a sound of piano is heard inside the car, coming from the speakers.

Dawn bites her bottom lip as she notices the familiar tune she loved dearly. I didn't know this is still in this playlist. She thinks, feeling a sense of regret, nagging at herself as to why she is about to feel extreme sentimentality once again.

The song "Merry Go Round of Life" by Joe Hisaishi, from the movie Howl's Moving Castle fills the car as well as the woman driving with different kinds of emotions.

I remember.

It was a Saturday night, and Dawn's crush was about to come over. The two made a plan to have a sleepover for absolutely no reason, and thanks to Dawn's powers of persuasion, she finally had the other woman agree.

Dawn just hopes that they would be able to watch a good movie.

Dawn's thoughts are interrupted by the sound of a doorbell, and she smiles as she realizes that the woman she's been waiting for has arrived.

Just not in her heart, but who is she to complain?

Her eyes widen as she realizes that the Selena is at her doorstep and is about to sleep in her apartment.

Before she opens the door to let the woman in, Dawn frantically runs to a mirror and checks herself out. She ties her short hair in a low ponytail and fixes her bangs and fringe. Realizing what she's doing, she stops. What the fuck am I even doing, she's seen me numerous times.

She walks to the door and opens it, a small smile on her face as she looks at Selena. The woman outside smiles back, her dimple making an appearance and Dawn swears that she'll never get tired of looking at it, no matter how many times the other woman does it.

"Come in" Dawn says, stepping aside as she lets Selena in, who removes her shoes by the entrance.

The woman looks around the place, "Nice place you got here. And you live alone right?" she asks. Dawn nods, and Selena smiles wider. "Do a house tour, come on"
