One thing was for sure: things would never be the same between Jeno and Jaemin after their kiss that night. It was a moment that had changed their relationship forever and had turned it upside down. The dynamics between them had been lost.
At least, that was what Jeno was expecting, but he couldn't have been more wrong.
Jaemin said something as stupid as always right off the bat when they woke up. He had compared early mornings to different celebrities. As strange as it sounded, he had some good points.
There was no tension at all. They didn't brush it under the rug nor did they avoid the topic. There was absolutely nothing in their relationship that would point out that something had happened, and it made Jeno smile, because Jaemin was just that kind of guy. Deep down he knew that he had been seeing him a different way for a while now, but his stubborn self wouldn't have admitted it to himself. He added up all the times they'd shared a moment, his heart had beat faster, he thought Jaemin looked attractive and when the sparks could be passed from one boy to the other.
They all outlined the centre of the mindmap. His heart was beating not only for himself, but for Jaemin now as well. And he didn't hate the realisation as much as he had expected to. The boy had proven himself too many times to be slighted and he simply had no reason to deny it when Jaemin came clean as well.
It was not as tough on Jaemin as he had expected either, because he had spent his whole life believing that girls were his sun only to find out that his eyes had been following Jeno a lot more than they had ever followed Mina back when they were together. He wasn't disappointed. He couldn't have developed feelings for a better boy. To him, there was no better boy, and it wasn't hard for him to say out loud either.
One thing weighed on Jaemin's mind still and it was Jaewoo. There was no way that Jeno could live with him any longer without experiencing a life changing event that would seal him off from other people for good. He didn't want that at all, but Jaewoo needed to be arrested and he didn't have Jeno's consent to provide a statement. He needed to speak to Chenle and Donghyuck about what to do.
"I'll walk you home," Jaemin offered as he passed Jeno his bag. "You never know who lurks in the shadows this early in the morning."
Jeno shook his head in disbelief and chuckled. "It's not that early. It's literally nine o'clock in the morning. Plus, it's so bright outside that there are probably no shadows for creepers to lurk in."
"Well, you did say "probably", which means that you can't be certain." He wagged his finger like a lecturing adult and opened the front door for them to walk out. He waved goodbye to his parents and was glad that Jaeri was asleep because she was always a pain. She was smarter than the average seven-year-old and regrettably, she was smarter than Jaemin as well.
"Bye Mr. Na, Mrs. Na," Jeno smiled and watched their kind faces as the door clicked shut. He glanced over at Jaemin who happened to be staring at him with a shit-eating grin on his face. "What?"
The pinkette continued to smile to himself and walk with a skip in his step. Maybe the sun had gotten to him. "We kissed."
Jeno creased his brow with a small smile, realising that this was the first time they had brought up last night's events. "Are you sure? I don't think I remember that."
Jaemin's face scrunched up in annoyance as he threw an arm out to poke the ravenette's shoulder. "Don't play mind games with me, Lee. I remember last night clearly."
Jeno was just having too much fun winding up the younger boy and couldn't bring himself to stop and play nice. "Maybe you dreamt it up? We did eat a lot of sweets, so maybe one of them was gone-off and gave you hallucinations."
