Chapter 30

A few days after Will kissed me when we made the fort was when he officially asked me to be his girlfriend.

I'm glad he did—because even though he asked one simple question, everything that had fallen out of place magically started to fit back together.

I've gone to his house to have dinner with his parents, which went more smoothly than I expected. I already knew his mom from a while back, but it seems like they approve of me.

Tonight, Will is coming over to my house to eat dinner with my parents. Apparently they've already met him on the first day he moved here—something that I never knew.

Kate and I still aren't talking. A few times in English class, I would try to start a conversation with a short "hi", but she doesn't make an effort to reply—which is a very low blow. It's been a while since a fight—and I don't even know why we're like this. She's always with Nate, but now she's there and I'm here.

I'm stronger than ever—it's like the accident never happened.

Will and I have grown closer—if that even is possible. We hang out longer and we spend more time together. And every second spent with him is cherished.

It's been almost three weeks since we started officially "dating."

Within that time, he and I have gone out on dates, like the movies, where we make fun of the bad acting, as well as make out.

He calls every night for no reason, just telling me that he misses me—which is so stupid because he lives right across from me and we've been out together all day. But still, it's cute.

We visit each other's houses and just cuddle and shove food into each other's faces. We decided to start cooking and baking because we spend way too much money on food at restaurants and food places.

He's my other half—at least that's what I think. We're inseparable.

He's so special to me and sometimes I get tongue-tied just trying to explain why.

The doorbell rings at precisely six in the evening, and I rush down the stairs to get it.

I open the door and see Will dressed up nicely with a bouquet of flowers in his hand.

"You look cute, come in," I say to him grinning. He smiles and leans down, giving me a quick kiss on the cheek.

My parents come to where we are and quickly invite him in. My mom gushes over the flowers and my dad and him chat about a sports team.

I study them from afar, smiling at how he fits so nicely here with us.

He's too perfect.

My mom later on calls us to the dining room to eat dinner.

When we get to the table, Will sits next to me and my parents sit across from us.

"So how long have you guys been dating?" my dad asks after we finish our main course.

"Not too long," Will says, "We hung out almost every day before we started dating though."

"So you didn't have the nerve to ask her out before then," my dad asks, making everything feel awkward.

"I wish I did," Will replies confidently.
