It would be a great waste to not take this encounter as an advantage. Even though we're miles away from my Uncle's reach, his invisible presence still nudged me to continue doing the business endeavors. I smiled tightly, subconsciously scratching the tip of my nose. Then, I stilled. I cocked an eyebrow, realization coursed through me. She called me… what?

“You recognized me from the start.” I blurted out. Muntik ko nang maapakan ang brake sa gulat.

“Wow, life-changing…” she muttered boredly, eyes lazily wandering beyond the hills.

She didn’t deny it! I was about to open my mouth once more then decided to shut it again. What’s the point? “It’s Sol, by the way. It’s not Solomon or Silvan,” I started, trying to be as upbeat as Riley, however my introduction went unheard. I was given the nickname Sol because it’s not as mouthful as my original names, so it’s kind of offensive when it slips out of someone’s mind. But then, it’s all right.

Sumulyap ako ulit sa direksyon niya pero nasa malayo ang kaniyang tingin. I blinked when I realized I gaped too much. She’s unmistakably beautiful. I would love to tell her that smidgen of admiration but my perception towards her whole personality is leashing me to say it. Besides, she’s probably used to the constant praises that mine won't be any different and noteworthy. If there's some time in the near future where we would meet in a nicer timeline, I wouldn't mind asking her if I could paint her a portrait.

I coughed to clear the itch in my throat. “So… bakit ka pupunta sa Sabin Resort? I don’t mean to pry but… curious lang ako.”

I took a swift glimpse and saw Luna’s eyebrows shot straight up. "You’re already prying,” she uttered in a monotone.

I thinned my lips. “Well…” I just wanted to entertain her. My mouth opened, then closed. When all I could manage was a meek, “Okay,” the woman snorted. As if I'm truly interested in her, anyway. Shouldn't she be more tolerable since this is not her personal space? The burning irritation only painted more crimson red.

Through my periphery, Luna shifted on her seat. Tumaas ang aking kilay. "Are you okay? Is it the belt? I can help you with that." I don't have the luxury to give her five-star comfort. I hope that thing won't make her berserk, this car isn’t spacious enough for her to cause things in chaos. My line of vision is still fixed on the road.

Hindi ko alam kung magpapasalamat ako sa biglaang pagtunog ng aking phone. Sumulyap ako sa aking katabi at nahuli ko siyang nakatingin din sa aking phone na nakapwesto sa dashboard. Bold letters of Ishi’s name were plastered on the screen.

“Ish…” I coughed. “Napatawag ka?” I almost blurted out a thank you.

“Hey, nasaan ka ngayon?”

Tumaas ang aking kilay at tiningnan ang date sa screen. Monday ngayon, we only agreed meeting on weekends. I wonder what’s the catch.

“Papunta ako— kami ni Az sa Esperanza. Ihahatid ko siya pauwi. Why? Is something all right?”
