❝ chapter eight
sol at luna ❞I fell asleep.
I was surprised to know how easily I gave in after I talked with... The sunlight burned my eyes as I roamed it around the place, searching for a particular person. There. The man was standing outside the carinderia together with his nephew. They were both laughing at their own inside jokes as they ate their ice cream.
I don't get him. I thought he wanted me? Ibinigay ko ang gusto niya sa akin, although indirectly, but it was an obvious call. I willingly gave my number. It was funny stifling my laugh throughout the ride. His fury towards me was evident and boiling despite the effort to hold it in, for whatever reason. I didn't even do something vicious towards him. He hated me, I'm sure of that. And yet... And yet look at him buying another choco ice cream that's definitely for me. And for what? For good graces?
I love how he's so easy to manipulate. However, I want nothing from him. There's no need for that. It was his own will to help me and not my charms doing its devilment.
We locked eyes. It was him who first averted his gaze, as if it burned him.
There was something in his eyes that I loved to see. Passion. Lust. It piqued my interest. He has a lot of potential and I want him to use me. To be more specific, I want him to convince me enough why this offer matters. If not, then it's not my wasted chance. It's his.
When they're back inside the car, I shifted on my seat and wore the sunglasses back.
"Where are we now?" I asked, nakasunod ang tingin sa ice cream na kanyang hawak.
"Esperanza. Malapit na tayo sa Resort na sinasabi mo." He closed the door and now about to buckle the strap. I ignored the constant rambling of his nephew behind us.
"Good."
My eyes narrowed after noticing how much he struggled with his grip. Nakakairita tingnan. "Akin na ang ice cream," I said levelly. I attempted to snatch it away so it would ease his distress but his surprise almost caught me off guard.
"This is not for you," his voice shook with so much haughty defiance.
My brows knitted together. "What?"
Umiling siya, nginuso ang belt. "K-Kaya ko na ito."
I ignored his statement. "That ice cream is not for me?"
"Do you... want it?"
"Not anymore? Because you clearly don't want to give me that."
"Kung gusto mo naman, I can give it to you."
"Who even wants to have a secondhand gift? Especially your heedless offer."
"This is just an ice cream, Luna. Kunin mo na... I'm sorry about what I said, nagulat lang ako. P-Para talaga sayo ito."
