Chapter Four: Anger

Chapter Four

A quarter-moon had passed since my talk with Squirrelflight. For the first few days afterwards, I had completely ignored Dovewing, refusing to look at her, or talk to her when she tried to apologize to me.

Then, my sadness had turned into anger, which had slowly changed into hatred. Now every time I saw her, I would glare at her, and if she came any closer than a tail-length away from me, I would "accidentally" bump into her. I think she knew that I was doing it on purpose. I didn't care. She had torn my heart to pieces, and I would make her regret it for the rest of her life. I would make sure I got my revenge before I went to StarClan.

"Bumblestripe!" Squirrelflight called, standing near the camp entrance. "Come over here!"

I trotted over to Squirrelflight, wondering which patrol she wanted to put me on now. Ever since our discussion, she had been making sure that she put me on extra patrols. "What dumb patrol do you want me on now?" I sighed, not really wanting to go on yet another stupid patrol.

"I want you to join Dovewing's hunting patrol..." she began.

"DOVEWING'S?!?!?!" I screamed into her face.

Squirrelflight stepped back and pointed with her tail towards where Dovewing was standing with Icecloud. "Are you crazy?" I asked furiously. "I would never go hunting with that worthless piece of fox-dung even if she wasn't leading the patrol!"

"Bumblestripe, that's an order," Squirrelflight meowed calmly.

"I don't care!" I screeched. "Go find another cat to do it!"

"Go hunting with them! Or else I'll have Bramblestar kick you out of the Clan!" Squirrelflight yowled, finally losing control of her temper.

I lifted my paw and hit her on the head with my paw, and the blow certainly wasn't gentle. I then spun around and made sure I kicked up lots of dirt in her face as I stomped away.

"C'mon," I hissed, intentionally stepping on Dovewing's foot as soon as I was close enough to her. "Let's get this nightmare over with. Oh, and by the way, Dovewing, did I mention that I hate you?"
