Mario flopped down onto his bed. The party had gone on for a while and he had had to excuse himself. He was dealing with a lot.

Bryan had come back...he was alive after two years...he had been living in the woods all this time. And apparently, he had thought the same things as him.

What had made him decide not to come back? Of course, he had probably thought that there wasn't any point in it, since everyone was dead. But wouldn't he want to confirm that? Make sure his pack was really dead? Bryan had always been filled with hope and enthusiasm. That was what had made him so appealing to the pack in the first place.

Now, he was this strong, handsome, confident, joke-cracking, hunk. Yes, Xylo was right, he was a hunk.

Mario realized what he was thinking and blushed. He tried to shake these impure thoughts out of his head. He was being a bad alpha. Bryan was the pack pup, he couldn't have him as his mate!

Then again... Bryan wasn't a pup anymore. He was an adult now. Even if he was another male, he was old enough. And the scent... Mario had been thinking about the scent for hours. And it hit him like a bolt of lightning.

(No pun intended.)

The scent was a mate scent. And it was coming from Bryan.

Every werewolf knew about mate scents from the days of being pups. They were smells that no other wolf could smell. A smell from the mate of that particular werewolf. The scents were usually mixtures of other smells; amazing smells; to form a perfect scent.

That smell of pine, coffee, cinnamon, and apples had to be the mate scent. And if it was coming from Bryan, well...it was the ancient laws to answer to it. And wasn't it the job of a good alpha to follow the ancient laws?

Mario groaned and held his head. All of this hard thinking was giving him a headache. He hated it when there were huge issues on his mind that could deeply affect the pack and his life.

Didn't everyone?

(Ok, so shortest chapter yet. 375 words. I was rushed and running out of ideas, so please forgive me for the sloppy ending.)
