Prologue:

I couldn't believe my own eyes, the one and only Kaden Maddox was crying in front of me.

Why?

That's a question I didn't have an answer to, but I so desperately wanted to find out.

He looked away from me ashamed as tears streamed down his cheeks. I didn't know what to do, so I awkwardly put my hand on his shoulder and told him everything was going to be okay. That's what people said when someone was hurt right?

Wrong.

As soon as I said that, his sadness suddenly turned into a fit of rage. He whipped around to face me and he stared at me with a fire burning in his eyes. His fists were clenching and unclenching so fast, I didn't even know it was humanly possible. Then out of nowhere he lunged at the glass coffee table and smashed it to pieces. I stood there in shock praying for it to end.

It didn't.

It only got worse from there, he was trashing the whole room, screaming profanities at absolutely nothing. After there was nothing left to smash, he turned on his heels and came straight towards me. I stood there not daring to move an inch, worried I might trigger him.

He grabbed my shoulders and began to shake me fiercely. He was yelling at me now. I closed my eyes wishing it would stop, and it did.

He slumped to the floor, leaning his back against the wall and sobbed in his arms. I watched him as he calmed himself down by taking deep breaths between his cries. I sat next to him and cautiously rubbed his back, as we sat in comfortable silence.

Suddenly, he lifted his head and his piercing blue eyes met mine with tears pooling in them. I could see the pain illuminating so evidently from them, as I stared in complete awe at this troubled boy before me. The next thing I know, he began to lean into me.
