In the 3rd century of Rome during a time of political and economic failures from the Roman emperors, a Syrian woman by the name Julia Maesa sought to bring about a new era and introduce a new face on the glorious empire.

Though with high tensions in the family and an obvious imbalance of gender roles, it was not she alone who could rule Rome. Although seemingly illegitimate to the Roman throne, she would devise a plan to put her 15-year-old grandson, Varius Avitus Bassianus in power. Though as history shows, we know him better as a name that came only after his death, as Emperor Elagabalus.

Only just a teenager ascending to the throne, history expresses his reign to be tainted with an overabundance of scandal and controversy. With little interest in politics or his self-image to the people, this would be what led to his downfall and death after four years of reigning.

This robust story of Elagabalus is more dynamic, rich, and virtuous. A story that takes one down another road in history to see a different reign of the youngest Emperor of Rome.
