chapter five

~~Chapter Redone!~~

The sound of loud knocking woke me up the next day. I groaned and crawled out of bed and walked down the steps. "It's so fucking early," I mumbled with a yawn before I opened the door.

"___, hello."

It was All Might, but in his skinny form.

"All Might," I said in surprise.

"Good to see you," he said.

"What do you want?"

"I was in the neighborhood, and I was hoping we could go to breakfast and talk?"

I sighed and ran my hands down my face. "Do you wanna just come in? As you can see, I'm nowhere near ready to go out," I said as I stepped to the side and opened the door wider.

"Sure, thanks," he said before he stepped inside. I took off my bonnet and tossed it onto the couch. Then I massaged my scalp and sighed.

"Want french toast?"

"Sure, sounds good," All Might said as he sat at the kitchen table. I walked into the kitchen and washed my hands, then made the french toast. After making the french toast, I cut up some strawberries and put them, with a few blueberries, on a plate. I set our plates on the table and sat across from him.

"So.. what did you wanna talk about?" I asked while pouring syrup on my french toast.

"A few things actually," he said before taking the syrup. I started eating and waiting for him to start.

"So., about yesterday. I heard from other students, and Eraserhead, that those villains knew you? Would you mind telling me more about that?"

I shrugged. "The white hair dude, Tomura Shigaraki, said he knew my parents and me, but I don't remember anything about him.

He simply nodded in response, and we ate in silence for a minute or two. "In the infirmary, why did you thank me? I thought," he sighed. "I thought you hated me. I mean I kinda understand why, but-"

"Are you gonna let me answer or what?" I snapped, way too harshly than I meant to. He sat quietly and looked at me. I sighed and leaned back in my chair.

"For a long time, I did," I paused. "Dislike you, but probably not for the reasons you think. I know that you had to arrest my parents to keep others safe, but, " I leaned my arms on the table and put my forehead against my hands.

"You left me. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was literally my eighth birthday before my father's parents died. The day before I told you all the things all four of my grandparents said about you. That you were only around because you felt guilty. Eventually, when your conscience was cleared, you'd leave, and I'd never see you again.

Do you remember what you said to me then?"

He nodded. "I told you about one for all, and showed you my true form. It wasn't that long after my accident."

"You also said you'd never leave, and that you trusting me with this secret was a way of sealing your promise. But you still LEFT. You still left me, all alone-"

"You had your grandparents."

I scoffed and blinked back tears. "They HATED me. My childhood was complete dog shit! But you made it better. Then you broke your promise and left me, on my birthday on top of that! I waited for you. I had hope that maybe something had happened, but you'd come back to me. I told myself every day that you wouldn't break your promise and you'd come back to me, but you never did." A single tear rolled down my cheek and I quickly wiped it away.
