Luke's POV

''Luke,'' my mom yelled. ''The boys are here.'' I came down the stairs with all my stuff, and gave my mom a kiss on the cheek. I ran out the door and greeted two out of my three friends

''Where's Ash?'' I asked.

''He's coming to school late,'' Michael told me. ''He texted me this morning.'' I nodded my head. We started talking about the homework, and made our way to school. When we got there, we parted ways and made our way to out lockers, having different form teachers.

Since I usually have form and first with Ash, I was alone for the majority of the morning. When Science was over, I met Cal and Mikey in math. ''Have you seen Ashton yet? He wasn't in first,'' I asked.

''No. He said he was coming in before lunch, but I don't know exactly when,'' Michael shrugged. ''Why are you so concerned?'' he smirked at me.

''I scoffed, saying, ''He is our friend, why wouldn't I be concerned?''

''Luke, are you ever this concerned when me or Mikey are absent?'' Calum narrowed his eyes. Calum you little shit.

''No,'' I whispered. ''But still. I have my reasons. Just drop it okay?'' I snapped. Both boys put their hands up in defence. Before I could apologize, the teacher walked in and started the lesson.

I didn't really pay attention for the rest of my classes, all the way until Lunch. Ashton still hadn't showed up. I made my way down to the lunch room from my locker, when I saw a dirty blonde boy standing a few lockers down from mine.

''Hey Ash. Is everything alright? Why are you so late? Are you okay?'' I bombarded him with questions.

''Yeah I had an, erm, doctors appointment,'' He's lying. I could tell.  ''Let's go to lunch, yeah?'' he looked at his books in his hand.

''Ashton, look at  me,'' I told him. He slowly looked up, and I gasped.

''Ashton what the hell happened to your eye?'' I asked him. He just shook his head, and refused to look me in the eye. I eyed him, and grabbed his upper arm, and led him to a bathroom that hardly anyone used. I pretty much dragged him in, and locked the door just in case.

''Ashton who did this to you?'' I demanded. He shook his head again, his eyes tearing up.

''No Ash, don't cry,'' I pulled him into a hug. ''You don't need to tell me right now,'' I rubbed his back until he pulled away. He rubbed his eyes with his sleeves, which reminded me of something.

''Ashy,'' I called him. I saw him lightly blush at the nickname. I would tease him if I didn't have to ask about something serious. I went to grab his arm, when he jerked away. I stared at him, until he let me take his arm. I pulled up his sleeve, and my eyes started watering. ''Oh Ash. Why?''

''I'm sorry Luke,'' he apologized. ''I know I told you I wouldn't but some things happened, and i told my self I would only do a few, but then I kinda lost track and I'm so sorry Lukey,'' he rambled. Attempting to cheer him up, I said, ''It's okay Ashton. I knew you wouldn't be able to stop right away. I'm just upset you didn't text me. But that's okay. I know we've only known each other for a few days,'' I smiled at him. He smiled weakly back. ''You know, you called me Lukey before,'' I teased him.

He looked down and blushed. ''I-I'm sorry. It slipped out and-'' I interrupted him. ''Ashy,'' I teased. ''It's fine. I was just playing. I kinda like it,'' I smiled again. ''We should wait in the classroom. Lunch is almost over anyway,'' I took Ashton's hand and we walked to music.

We sat down at our usual seats, not even realizing we were still holding hands. We only noticed when they boys walked in, and Michael smirked at us. Ashton saw, and pulled his hand away, with a small smile in my direction. I smiled back and glared at Michael.

''So there's this party at Nick's house. You guys coming?'' Calum asked. I nodded, and saw Ashton shrug. ''You guys know parties aren't my thing,'' he pouted.

''Aw come on Ashy. Don't leave me with these two idiots for the night. Plus we can't stay late anyway because it's Tuesday and we have school tomorrow,'' I gave him the puppy dog pout. ''Pewees Ashy?''

He stared at me for a second, and sighed. ''I guess so. But can we only stay for a few hours?'' he asked.

''Sure.''

The teacher walked in, and assigned us a group project. ''Everyone pick two other people in this class. You will have to write and preform an original song. Writing the song is 50% of your grade. Performing is 40%, and using instruments is 10%,'' she told us. ''Go ahead and get together, and start working. Just keep in mind this is due in two weeks.''

The four of us looked at each other. ''Who can sing?'' Everyone raised their hand except Ashton. ''I mean, I can sing, I'm just not that good.''

''I doubt that. Sing something,'' I told him. He looked me. ''No, I'm okay. I play the drums. Drummers don't sing often anyway.''

''Ashton. Please sing.''

''Fine,'' he gave in. He started singing Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus. While he was singing, I couldn't help but stare at him. The way his mouth formed the words when he sang. How his fringe covered part of his black eye. The way his eyes closed. And those damn dimples.

Frig.

I was so interested on watching him, I didn't even notice that he stopped singing until someone cleared their throat. I blushed and looked in my lap quickly. I looked back up. Calum, Michael and myself clapped quietly. ''Ashton that was really good. And I think I have the perfect song for us to do. I'll bring it in tomorrow,'' Calum said. Him and Michael started talking about the song, while I started talking to Ashton.

''Ashton. I thought you said you couldn't sing,'' I asked him.

''I can't,'' he answered.

''Really? Then what did I just hear?'' I saw a faint blush on his cheeks. Before I could tease him, the bell wrung. Since Ash and I have a free last period, we decided to go home and start homework before the party.

We said bye to the other two boys, and started to walk out of school. ''Hey Luke?'' Ashton called me.

''Yeah?''

''Can I come over to your house? My parents aren't home and they don't want me home alone,'' he rolled his eyes.

''Yeah, sure,'' I agreed. We walked in a comfortable silence. When we passed my house, I saw that there wasn't any cars in the driveway, which meant that no one was home. I could have went home, and not to Luke's, but I didn't want to take the chance of getting hit again.

When we got to Luke's house, we sat in his kitchen, since we were alone, and started our homework, waiting for Calum and Mikey to pick us up.

__________

I was going to continue it, but this is sooo long and the party makes a good chapter in itself. Idk.

Anyway, sorry this is so late. There has been a lot going on in my life, not all positive :/. It's just been hard to write anything, without it reflecting off my mood.
