A/N- sorry this update took me SO LONG TO POST! I finally did it though, and I figured to write it in Keefe's perspective because I haven't done one like that before... so yeah.
Keefe's perspective
I'd finally done it! Our relationship was out in the open, and even Grady knew about everything (well not everything but most things) without wanting to club me over the head. I call that, Lord Hunkyhair's progress... or something... the name is a work in progress (haha get it?).
Aaaaanyway, I know how life is, always giving me another hurdle right when I think there will be a break for once...
Well, Sophie had a speech to give to the majority of the Elvin world as reassurance that the Neverseen had really gone for good. Of course they chose Sophie, the person who had 'been through it all'. Well, she really had been through it all, and I think that should be more reason to give her a much needed rest from the constant pressure put on her. Honestly, I don't know how she does it. Until they were defeated, I could feel her worry and fear from a mile away. Since this whole speech business, it had been slowly returning. Not to the level that being tracked down by evil rebels had her emotions spiking, but still abnormally high. Sophie's never been one for public speaking...
I hope giving her as much emotional support as I can helps her get through this. Of course she's going to be amazing, I don't doubt her ability to do... well anything really, I just want to spare her the pain of the extra worrying beforehand. As Lord Cassius said (UGH! Whoever thought I would be quoting HIM of all people.) Worrying just makes everything harder, so don't do it. Wow, look at me being all philosophical. Speaking of my ever so loving father, he hasn't been around as often. Taking so-called 'needed breaks' away to Atlantis because his life was 'too rocky and giving him anxiety'. I can't imagine what would make him so anxious in his dream world of a gloomy tower. I guess he just makes up anxiety as an excuse to get away from everything familiar... away from me. Not that I care... Why should I? He obviously doesn't care about me!
Shoot! I should be at Havenfield in a few minutes to help Sophie write and practice her speech.
I held the crystal up to the light, and tried to shake all the negative thoughts out of my head before stepping into the beam.
As the familiar scene of Havenfield glittered into view, I couldn't help but smile. I briskly walked over to the house, trying to get to Sophie quickly. Seeing as she was the love of my life, I was eager to help her.
"Oh hi Keefe!" Edaline somehow knew it was me without looking... well then. "Sophie's in her room."
"Thank you Mrs Ruewen."
"Oh no need for that politeness Keefe, call me Edaline."
"Well then... Thanks, Edaline!" She winked at me over her shoulder.
"You know... since you might be joining the family soon..." All my usual snarky replies left my brain, and I blushed before running up the stairs to escape humiliation.
When I stepped into Sophie's room, I realized I wasn't the only one there. There was our entire friend group in a circle on the floor, with a giant piece of paper in the middle.
"Hey Keefe!" Sophie turned around, and I saw a flicker of guilt in her eyes. She invited everyone else without telling me. I wasn't mad exactly... just disappointed. Here I thought we were going to be having some alone time... well we did have a lot of that lately so I guess it's okay. The only thing that worried me was the fact that there was ALWAYS some drama when we were all together. It was a known fact. The jealousy and disgust I felt when I brushed past Fitz on my way to Sophie surely wouldn't help. I also couldn't help but notice that Marella and Linh were staring at each other...
