The Maze Runner (Thomas)

Chapter 14:

(3rd POV)

The next morning Thomas found himself sitting in a chair, the keepers arraigned in a semicircle around him. He looked around the room a little nervous. He wished Alex was there, but he was relieved that at least Newt was there.

Gally started. ''He took it upon himself to go into the Maze, which is a clear violation of our rules here. This shank here turned this place upside down''

''Yeah, but he saved Alby's life'' Frypan stated.

''Did he? For 3 years, we co-existed with these things and now Thomas killed one of them. Who knows what that could mean for us.''

''Well, what would you suggest we do?'' Newt asked Gally, before turning to the Runner.

''Minho, you were there with him. What do you think?'' The blonde crossed his arms as he eyed the teenager.

''I think, in all the time we've been here, no one's ever killed a Griever before. And when I turned tail and ran, this dumb shank stayed behind to help Alby.'' A long pause ''Look, I don't know if he's brave or stupid, but whatever it is, we need more of it.''

''Oh give me a break!'' Gally spurted.

Newt gave Gally a hard stare. "Finished, Captain Gally?"

Minho stood quickly, taking everyone off guard ''I nominated this shank to replace me as a Keeper of the Runners''

Gally stood up fuming, again ''what?''

''You broke the same rule you're blaming Thomas for. That's called hypocrisy, you shuck-faced piece of—"

Gally stood up again, fuming. "Say one more thing like that and I'll break your neck, right here in front of everybody." Spit flew from his mouth as he spoke.

Minho laughed, then raised the palm of his hand and shoved Gally in the face. He crash down into his chair, tipping it over backward, cracking it in two pieces. Gally sprawled across the floor, then scrambled to stand up, struggling to get his hands and feet under him.

Minho stepped closer and stomped the bottom of his foot down on Gally's back, driving his body flat to the ground.

Complete silence filled the room. Thomas was stunned; he was staring at Minho- with his jaw dropped and his eyes wide open.

"I swear, Gally," Minho said with a sneer, "don't ever threaten me again. Don't ever speak to me again. Ever. If you do, I'll break your shuck neck, right after I'm done with your arms and legs. I don't care if you're Alex's friend, I'll do it''

"Enough'' Newt stood up. ''Here's my recommendation. Thomas gets one night in the slammer as his punishment. And I also recommend we elect you as a runner. Effective the second, this meeting is over''

Well guys, this is one of my favorite parts of the book so that's why I decided to include it in the story.
