I look up to see wind riders flying above us, dropping onto the ground and their beasts impaling innocents with their tails.
" We need to get inside!" I yell at the others. I dodge one of the scorpion tales and barge through the auction house doors.
The screams of the unlucky ones are the only things I can hear. Everything goes silent and then I hear the wings of giant beasts.
I hear some Orcish and unsheath my sword. Most of the people inside sit at the back of the room, huddled together like a bunch of scared children.
As soon as I see the first orc walk into the room, I charge. I easily get the first blow, impaling him with my sword.
He gasps and falls back out, just to be replaced by more. I dodge a sword and freeze one as Cashlas stabs them in the back.
Lyonia just stands back watching as we expertly combo our abilities, and the orcs are slaughtered. I see a fireball coming our way, but it is too late. It smashes into Cashlas' chest and sends him flying back, engulfed in flames.
His screams fill the room, and everyone, even the orcs, stop to watch. There's nothing we can do because there are no mages to put the fire out.
His screams fade after a minute or so. I quickly spawn an army of ghouls to fight of the orcs and rush to my friends side.
With the fire burnt out you can see how badly burned he is. He looks over at me, just barely alive. "Hey, what happens when we die here?" He asks.
He closes his eyes and dies right then and there. I think, and remember that I can revive an ally.
I start doing so when a huge group of orcs bust through the doors, murdering my ghouls.
"I'll hold them off, just hurry!" Lyonia says.
Some of the other people inside slowly stand up. I see some are warriors or priests. They quickly jump into the fight, aiding Lyonia and her ghouls.
I finish the spell and Cashlas already looks better. I turn and jump into battle, freezing the orcs as soon as they step through the door.
I notice Cash get up and he looks confused. Then he realizes what happened and his face lights up with joy, then determination.
He jumps into the fight, wielding his two daggers like a whirlwind of death. He jumps from target to target, slicing them up and then moves on to the next.
Finally the battle ends and everyone stands up.
"Alright! We need to get to the castle! That's probably the safest place in the city. Lyonia and I will be at the front and back while warriors and paladins take up the sides. Priests and innocents stay in the middle, while Cashlas scouts and takes out small numbers of orcs. Is that clear?" I say.
Everyone nods and we go to our positions I take up the front and wish Cash luck. We all walk through the doors to see bodies littering the ground. I really hope we can make it to the castle.
I notice two orcs fall dead up ahead, and Cash salutes before stealthing again. I notice him turn a corner and immediately turning back, fear on his face.
He walks over to me and says that the canals are full of orcs heading to the castle. Turns out we're gonna have to fight. Might as well make the dead useful.
Lyonia and I put both of our powers together and focus on raising all of the dead.
The dead slowly rise out of the ground, filling the streets, and under our control. I point them to the canals, and they all go towards them.
We follow them and see a massive battle. The ghouls/zombie army caught the orcs off guard and many were killed right off the bat.
We charged into the fray, cutting down any orc our army did not. I narrowly dodged a spear that lodged into the neck of the priest behind me. We had no time to stop and heal the poor man, and kept on running.
Cashlas stuck with us during the battle, not wanting to get split up. An arrow flew into the shoulder of an innocent near Lyonia and fell behind. Now there were only twelve of us.
A huge wave of orcs came by and split us in half. Lyonia and five others, while Cashlas and four others accompanied me onward.
I turned and threw a deathbolt. It just barely missed Lyonia but hit the orc that was about to kill her.
She was the only one of that half to survive. Now there were just seven. We kept running and we were almost to the castle. A few orcs surrounded us, and we fought our way out but lost two more.
We made it to the castle with only five people. The guards held them off as we ran inside. Only a few other people were inside, including the king himself.
He nods to us. "Nice work, death knight. You lead five more survivors here. Most people are stuck in their homes, they are holding out well though. Maybe we can recover from this someday." He said.
"But, we must flee for now." An old mage says.
"To where?" I ask.
"Gilneas" he responds, opening a portal.
We all jump through, landing in the raining dark land of gilneas. The king, Cashlas, and I are in when Lyonia kill the mage when she makes it through.
"I told him I'd bring you back alive." She said.
