"Catoptric Tristesse"

The harbouring thought to know,
Residing sadness made you hollow,
Trying to put yourself in their point of view,
Desiring to know what people think of you,

Trying to put myself in their shoes,
To know if I'm admirable or heinous,
Whether they perceive me as someone good,
Or they see me as someone bad and rude,

Reflecting with the sharpness of the mirror,
Maybe people scream my name with hate and horror,
If we were to see the naked truth behind the wall,
Will you accept the secrets hidden deep in the soul?

What you think of me reveals the real you,
What you say to others shows how you'll treat me too,
Sometimes it is easier to be misunderstood,
But why am I so bad at being good?

Catoptric Tristesse is a peculiar desire,
Tried to remove masks you despise to admire,
The only empty space I wished to fit in,
Is to be proud of me from deep within.
