I ran in the house confused to what the hell just happened. I couldn't believe that Dee just kissed me. I was not expecting that at all. I ran off as fast as I could and came back home to get dinner ready. I walked in the house and walked to the kitchen.
As I took the meat out the fridge and the sides Joesph walked in from upstairs.
"Where have you been Bethany? I've called your cell several times and you didn't tell me you was leaving." Joesph asked sitting down at the high bar.
"I'm sorry honey. My phone was on the charger and I just went to Um greet the neighbor." She said as fast as she could.
"Greet the neighbor? Why? Didn't you meet him on last evening?" Joesph said crossing his arms.
"Yeah but it didn't come out like I wanted to. So I wanted to make sure he felt welcome." She said as she washed off the steaks.
"So again why did you feel that was even necessary?" Joesph asked.
"We have to show our neighbors that we are friendly. Don't do that." Bethany said as she put the food on.
"Bethany that is a bunch of bullshit. That went just fine yesterday. What you feel the need to keep going over there?"
"Baby stop making this a big deal."
I'm not making it a big deal. Why are you making this a thing? I asked you a question. And I want a answer to it." Joesph said with a little bass in his voice.
"Ok and I told you. So let's just drop this. Go watch tv or something while I get dinner ready." Bethany said trying to get him off that subject.
"Why should I? I want to know what's so important with the neighbor. You have never made it your business to go to no one house more than once unless they invite us over for something. Now what is the deal now?"
"Joesph PLEASE!" She yelled slamming the knife down on the cutting board.
"Wow so it's like that now? Huh? Wow. Let me just go watch tv. Since it seems like you got OTHER things and OTHER people on your mind."
Joesph got up from the stool and headed to the living room. He turned on the tv and flipped through the stations until he came up on Martin. He watched that and sat there quiet thinking about the little conversation he had just now with his wife.
He noticed she was acting funny from this morning. Now all he could think about was what is really going on with her. Why is she so intrigued with the little neighbor.
He looked back at her as she continued to cook dinner. He watched her actions for a little. She was acting all shaking and nervous. He turned back around and continued to watch tv.
After about a hour the food was ready. Bethany brought Joesph his plate and sat next to him. They said their grace and started eating in silence. After a while Bethany couldn't take it no more.
"Why are you acting like this Joe? You know I love you and just like to make our community friendly. That is the only reason I went back. We didn't hit it off good and I wanted to make peace."
Bethany tried to explain.
"There's no need to explain. You know what you know. Just leave it alone alright." Joesph snapped back.
"Why the attitude? All I want is for our neighborhood to remain peaceful. Is that too much to ask?" Bethany said as she put some salad in her mouth.
"You act like you the neighborhood watch or some shit. You met him it was over yesterday. But no you go back again today. And then you didn't tell me you was gone and you leave your phone home. Things you DONT do." Joesph said getting louder.
"So is that your problem? Cause I left my phone home?"
"You damn right. And the fact that you didn't tell me. You usually tell me. You always take your phone. Now all of a sudden you can't."
"Baby I'm sorry. If that made you feel some type of way please forgive me. I was not intentionally trying to upset you. The phone was almost dead so I left it home. I didn't think it was a big deal." Bethany explains.
"You know what. I don't have a appetite anymore." Joesph said getting off the sofa and putting his plate in the fridge.
Joesph walked up the stairs and went into their bedroom and slammed the door. Bethany knew he was truly upset now. She finished her food and cleaned the few dishes she had left.
After the kitchen was cleaned she went upstairs and went into their bedroom. Joesph had already took his shower and was laying in bed watching tv. Bethany didn't say nothing when she entered.
She went and got her night clothes and went to the bathroom. She started her water and removed her clothes. She put her cleaning face cream on and cleaned her face. After that she wrapped her hair and got into the shower.
Letting the water hit her body she just closed her eyes and tried to clear her mind. The kiss kept coming back to her mind. All she could think about was his soft lips on hers. She felt herself getting hot between her legs just thinking about him.
She opened her eyes and took a deep breath. She hurried and showered and got out. Bethany put her clothes on and cut the bathroom light off. She slid next to Joesph and laid on her back.
"Baby I hate fighting with you. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel like this. Do you forgive me?" She asked looking at him.
Bethany turned and faced him waiting on him to respond. Joesph sat there for a minute. He turned his head and looked at her.
"I forgive you." Joesph said giving her a half smile.
Joesph leaned over and kissed her lips. Bethany deepened the kiss and wrapped her arms around him.
"I love you Joe." Bethany said softly.
"I love you more Beth." Joesph said as he climbed on top and they made love throughout the night.
