JAMIE WAS WAITING for her father to be asleep before she would dare go down to their kitchen to steal from the sweets jar. It was a little past one in the morning, and the sixteen year old was supposed to wake up five hours later.

Frustrated at the time, she figures her father was fast asleep by now, standing up from her bed to sneak downstairs, careful not to make even the slightest of noises.

Ever since her mother has left them for another man, she and her father have lived together, treating one other as one's treasure to hold onto, for they only have each other now.

Jamie admits she has never been close to her mother. Not even a little bit. The former Mrs. Van Halen has always been distant towards her only daughter, ever since Jamie could remember. They always had something to argue about, and Mr. Van Halen was having none of it. Breaking the marriage consequently after Jamie had turned nine years old.

The only fond memory Jamie had of her mother was when she was five. She had come from the daycare center when her mother decided to pick her up, and take her to a lovely picnic by the river. Mr. Van Halen was in France then for his business.

Jamie's father was a business man. He was well known in his line of work, thus the main reason why he and Jamie have been surviving for the past seven years they have been together. Jamie hated that fact. She hated that she couldn't do anything to help her father but study in school and behave accordingly.

She also hated that it was taking too long for her to go back to Narnia. You see, Jamie had visited Narnia when it was a savage land, when peace was not in the Narnian vocabulary. Everything was chaos, but she loved to admit she had quite the adventure with her friends.

She wondered how much time has passed in Narnia since what she and her friends called The Dark Ages. Ten years? A hundred years? Maybe even a thousand?

     Or more.

Jamie wanted to know what Narnia looked like now, after so long. She wanted to know what had happened to the friends she had made, if they're still alive. She wanted to know how Aslan was doing. If he had maintained the peace be brought upon the land.

Sighing, she takes a bite from the small chocolate chip cookie she had stolen from the sweets jar. It was a fine evening, or should she say morning. Staring up at the bright round moon she wondered if Narnia was looking upon the very same moon.

     Most probably not.

Just then, in her peripheral vision, she spots the streetlamp's light near their house flickering. Knitting her eyebrows in confusion, she observes it more, taking a sip from the fresh milk she had taken from their pantry.

Out of sheer curiosity, she finishes the last of her cookies and decides to venture outside and check out what's causing the light to flicker.

Clutching her coat closer to her body, she struggles to seek warmth as the cold England air harshly blows against her sensitive skin. She looks up at the street lamp. Suddenly, after a while of staring at it, it starts to flicker more violently than before.

Panic begins to arise in Jamie, more confused than ever. She steps backwards into the street, carefully observing the light. Its probably nothing. She thinks. Just when she thinks it really was nothing, all the street lamps that lined their street started to flicker as violently as the first one.

In an overwhelming sense of panic and confusion, she runs to the middle of the street, trying her best to look at everything at once. What is this? She asks herself again and again. What was more confusing was that neighbors didn't seem to mind at all

Then one by one, the lights started to die down, until it was pitch black. Jamie squints her eyes, trying to see in the dark. Consequently, she feels some sort of tug, as if pulling her to the ground. A violent gust of wind rushes by her, bringing with it small debris like dust or papers.

    She waits.

     And waits.

     And waits.

And before she knew it, she was no longer in her nightgown, nor in England anymore.

A/N: Okay here's a glimpse of how Jamie got to Narnia. I'm kinda excited for this book since I recently got into the narnia fandom again.

You might hate Jamie sometimes in the coming chapters but I hope you enjoy how I imagine her. And I hope you enjoy reading as well!
