The Unwanteds....except in the Hunger Games

Part 2

As soon as the timer counted down, Alex ran straight to the cornucopia picking up the nearest backpack and sprinting to the forest. He was planning to meet up with Meghan and Lani as they formed a sort of alliance during training hours. His brother was somewhere in the arena too, but he knew Aaron had no interest in teaming with him. His brother found Alex as a "filthy Unwanted" and would most likely be the one to kill him.

He had a thought to turn around and check the situation in the center, noticing Sky aiming a dagger at him. Immediately Sky released and Alex twisted, avoiding the dagger, and watched it pin to a tree behind him. In tremerse fear, he jogged into the forest in a zig zag pattern, scared to turn his back around anything.

He spotted dark black hair quivering nearby. "Lani..." he whispered, and then ran toward her slicing the undergrowth getting in his way. "Lani!". The black hair girl swiftly turned around.

"Alex!" she yelled and ran toward Alex. They both hugged, and examined each other. They were friends in the same district, and so knew each pretty well. It haunted Alex to have her die at some point...as long as he wasn't the one to do so. "Your cheek is bleeding. What happened?" Lani asked.

"Its that Sky girl. From 4. She threw a dagger at me, I dodged it luckily," Alex explained. "Did you see that Giant waterfall East of us?" Alex asked.

Lani nodded. She looked in her bag, and pulled out a flask. "I was able to also get a filled flask, though we should check out the WaterFall. Meghan might be there."

"Good idea," Alex said and paused "Wait, dont you think everyone would be going to the Waterfall? Its the best source for water." Everyone was most likely heading there, and it was going to be a horrible blood bath if so. Lani hesitated and answered.

"Then lets just set up Camp here. We already have enough water to sustain us for the day," she suggested. Alex agreed and both started working.

Back at the Waterfall, Thatcher and Henry watched their ally die just in the few minutes of becoming an ally. Thatcher picked up Scarlet, and placed her somewhere deeper in the jungle and walked back to Henry who seemed frightened. Immediately they heard rustling. Thatcher pulled out his sword and watched the forest where the sound was directed. Then once again rustling, and afterward laughter. It was the Careers.

Henry shuffled to his feet, picking up the material left on the sandy beach, and pulled out a dagger. Henry hated to fight, or even kill. He was best with medicines. He hid behind Thatcher, who held his sword watching the forest, sweat beading up. Once again, laughter and whoops were heard.

"Did you see her face? Just one hit of the lethal scatterclip, and boom. Dead!" said a voice followed by laughter.

"Thisbe, classic. Im still so annoyed I didnt use the lethal version on Scarlet. It just slipped by mind!"

Thatcher heard this, and the voices grew louder. They were heading to the Waterfall. "Henry, run." Thatcher whispered. Henry nodded, and ran to the forest opposite from the direction of the voices. Thatcher followed behind him, eyed on the forest.

"Wait! I couldve swore I heard the gravel move." a voice said. "Dev, go check it out,"

"No Shanti, lets keep Dev. I want to kill whoever is there. Dev can make himself useful and set up a camp."

The five stepped into the clearing, where the waterfall was, it glowing in the moonlight. Thisbe spotted Thatcher, as he ran into the forest, and smiled, running after him. "Oh Come here Thatcher boy!" she exclaimed, pulling out a heart attack component. Thatcher turned around noticing Thisbe, and thought fast running up a tree.

Henry who was way more ahead, found a cave and hid in, hoping Thatcher was following behind him. Eventually, the rest of the careers found Thisbe and noticed Thatcher in the tree. "Oh its that kid from 11," Rohan said. "Dev is making camp right now,"

"Good, I didnt know what other purpose I would have for that kid," Fifer replied.

"Fifer, he's older than you,"

"Yeah, but no better. He's such a wimp," Thatcher just took this time to look for a way out. Thisbe began climbing the tree, holding a heart attack in hand, and when she caught sight of him, she threw it, striking Thatcher in the chest. Stunned, Thatcher fell to the ground, and Fifer eagerly yelled, "ME! Im Finishing him off!", and struck him with the remaining two components.

Lani jumped at the cannon. "Sounded like it came from the forest by the Waterfall" Alex said, dying down the fire. Alex didnt want people to find them due to the smoke. "I think we should go sleep, I can keep watch for the first couple of hours, and then you can," Lani nodded, and leaned by a tree, closing her eyes. Alex leaned by another tree opposite of her, and stood watch for couple of hours.

Then only suddenly, a gushing sound was heard. Alex perked up, assuming it was the waterful, but this sounded different. Louder. Alex stepped up, knife in hand and looked further. He shook Lani awake, and both of them heard it. Lani looked around, and peered forward. Then they saw it. A flood of thick oil was swarming their way.
