Ship: Hinny
This idea is based on a headcanon I saw on Pinterest. I decided to take the idea a bit further....
Growing up with six older brothers was not easy, but Ginny managed. Being the youngest daughter of the family she was often overlooked and thought to be weak. Ginny worked hard to build up a sturdy reputation that screamed tough. No one saw through this except for Harry.
Growing up with muggles who seemed to have hated you was not easy, but Harry managed. Harry grew up not knowing or understanding anything about his true self and was thrown into the Wizarding world at age eleven abruptly. He had worked hard to build a strong reputation so no one would believe him to be vulnerable despite all he had lost. No one saw through this except Ginny.
That might be an exaggeration. Ginny and Harry's friends and family knew that they were more than their reputation said they were, but they rarely saw their other side.
Harry and Ginny trusted each other enough to put their reputations aside. They didn't need to keep those walls up around them.
Whenever Ginny gets injured in a Quidditch game, she won't let any team healer near her unless Harry is around. Harry needs to be there for support. So she can squeeze his hand until he's the one with tears in his eyes. Him whispering kind reassuring words in her ear to make sure she knows he's there.
People are puzzled by the fact that Ginny Weasley didn't shed one tear after she fell a hundred feet off her broom. (Rogue bludger.) What they didn't see is Harry slinging an arm around her while she buried her face into his chest tears streaming down her face.
Whenever Harry had nightmares about the war Ginny was there to soothe him. To talk about what they were about. When Harry breaks down about Sirius, Remus, or his parents she's there to hug him tightly and never let him go.
People are puzzled. This man has lost so much at a very young age, yet he's always so composed. What they didn't see were the late nights that he spent in Ginny's arms sobbing about his past. How much he missed who had died for him and how sometimes he wished he died in place of them. Ginny was always there to calm him down and make sure he gets some sleep that night.
One day a reporter from the daily prophet asks Harry how he manages. Harry chuckles at the reporter's remark about how amazing he is day in and day out. How strong he is for handling the whole war thing. He shakes his head before replying.
"No, no, no. The only reason I'm as strong as I am is because I have my amazing wife Ginny. She's there for me no matter what and I'm so grateful for it. I wouldn't be here today without her."
When Ginny reads this quote in the Daily Prophet the next morning at breakfast with Hermione she almost ruins her reputation. She almost breaks down and cries because of how happy Harry makes her feel. This man makes her feel so strong and loved and cared for. Feelings she never thought she could feel or ever dreamed she could feel were felt at that moment. She realized while they had to be tough for everyone else, they didn't need to be strong around each other.
